You can use the gamma control to make the originals darker.

v 2.0 with some enhancements to contrast and color-coding added to different types of modules.
If there is any interest I could make a proper skin out of it.

How is that not a proper skin already? Did you just take a screen print and apply different contrast/color settings in Photoshop or something? Or did you go into the skins folder and edit the .png's?
Anyway, at it's most basic, the process for modifying a default skin properly, is...
1. Go to the Hive.data\Data folder
2. Copy the Images/Fonts/Scripts folders
3. Go to Hive.data\Support\Themes
4. Create a new folder here with your skin name, like "Hive Contrast"
5. Open that newly created folder and paste the Images/Fonts/Scripts folders from step #2 into it
Now, next time you launch a new instance of Hive (all instances must be closed first - so start fresh), you'll see a new skin option called "Hive Contrast" or whatever. Select this.
At this point, you can modify the .png's in the [Skin Name]\Images folders very easily to tweak the skin however you like. Just remember to close all instances of Hive and load a new one to see the changes. If you want to tweak text colors that aren't in the PNG, you're going to have to open up the script, find the color, and edit the text there or via the built-in theme editor (which can be very tricky, has some missing features, and has no documentation) - hence why I recomend the script.

Thanks for the instructions Funkybot. Here is a link for the version 1.0 of Hive Contrast skin. It includes two versions; One with the extra colours and the other without. Just extract the folders to Hive.data\Support\Themes.

Thank you so much zoikkis! I love the darker "lcd" bg version - "hive dark". It's been bothering me too, and I was thinking about editing it myself. You've made the exact changes I would.
The colour coded version is also great!
Cheers!

Colour version updated to 1.1:
* Orange replaced with green since it felt a bit out-of-place with the overall blue theme
* Saturation of the colours toned down overall to make things look more unified within the UI

Thanks for the kind words, hope you guys find it useful.
Here is the final version for the Contrast skin. Removed some of the interface elements that felt a bit unnecessary and cluttering the screen, like some of the virtual cables and stuff. Also very slight coloration of the mod matrix screens.

Now just waiting for the Hive 2.0. If the new skin for that will be as good as the new ZebraHZ skin...
Not sure if this skin would qualify for the u-he patchlib. If so, feel free to put it there.

I did like the colour-coding, though... It makes sense. It's easier to see what's going on.

Just installed both versions, the stronger contrast makes a nice improvement on the original. I like the subtle colouring a lot too, reckon this will become my default... At least till v2 comes out. Nice work anyway.

This one looks perfect, Zoikkis. I guess I'll be using that one, too, until v2 is out.
Thank you so much!
