Im searching for recreation of that famous signature Metheny guitar synth sound (gr300) to play "Song For Bilbao" with Zebra played with a guitar synth system.
Can someone help me to find it in any sound library (commercial or free)?
You can hear it in many recordings, for example here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCPfKzIK6Wo

sounds like a fairly simple synth brass ... with a thinner (more like trumpet) timbre yet filtered

Try the factory patches in Hive: "JH 70s Moog Lead",
You'll find a preset: "Lead Levitation" in Padsheaven(1)
You can hear it in action on the youtube video demo.

Cheers,
Joseph

3ee: Im not saying its a complicated sound, but im a musician not a programmer, perhaps in another life...
Thanks for your suggestions hollo, sadly I dont have Hive so Im searching for a Zebra preset because its the vsti that I have (and love).
I heard your sounds and they are wonderful but I can not find that Levitation Lead sound is close to the one using Metheny, at least not to my ears.

Had a try, it's not the same but in the same "category" at least and it needs the right reverb to sound more like it.

although simple, you'll notice that it has some weight to it..
aftertouch is for bend

This comes close imo. It has the four xy assignments to help make adjustments easier.

The sound is definitely in the same category, a bit raw and rough in the edges, maybe i can relax it with some delay and reverb..3ee wrote:Had a try, it's not the same but in the same "category" at least and it needs the right reverb to sound more like it.

I play with a midi guitar, so no aftertouch... so dont know what do it with the pitch, but the pitch bend works (although seems less responsible to hammer ons than other zebra sounds).
thanks for your input.

Sorry I do not find enough resemblance to the Metheny sound it lacks that "trumpet" character.
Thanks anyway, I appreciate your contribution, really.

I'd say that the attack portion of this sound may have something to do with his character.
It seem's somewhat produced by the way the synth respond to the guitar's interface.
It isn't clean at all (glichtchy?), different from a keyboard where's keys act like switchs.
Just my two cents.

Tip: To emulate the intonation, use very low glide 'Range' (start with 5.00 then adjust) with fairly slow glide time (start with 30.00).

This is from my old vision soundset for zebra.
I made a slight tweak to it.
