Boss Katana 50?

Recently the Boss Katana 50 has been getting some of my attention. I would probably use it mostly as a power amp for my MFX, but it seems like it might make a decent practice amp as well. Anyone have any experience with it?
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

A lot of the videos I've seen make it sound good. Make sure you get the mk2 version though.
I've tried the mk1 in the store and it was ok, but I didnt mess with it that much. Perhaps it is better than I think.
I may end up getting the 100w mk2.

The videos do sound good, but I think I'll hold off for now until I see what NAMM brings.

I have the mkI 100W combo and like it a LOT. After reading the specs and watching a few vids, I'd definitely get the mkII. Looks like a serious upgrade, not just a few extra bells and whistles to extract more money from gear junkies.
The thing that makes the 100w necessary over the 50w, IMHO, is that the 100w has an effects loop, and the 50w doesn't. Plug in a couple of premium pedals, and you get much more range to the sounds you can make.
The mkII does have the power amp in, though, so if you think you'll be satisfied with using the MFX, that may be all you need.

I've used the Mk1 versions of the 50W combo and the 100W head and I was impressed with both. They sounded good on their own and took the fuzz well. I haven't actually used the Mk2 but a couple of people seem to reckon it doesn't sound as good as the Mk1 - I know, beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that

It's nice to know the amp takes pedals well. I expect that I will use this mostly as a power amp but lately I have been wanting to put my old pedal board back together.

I gave in and got the 50 Mk II. The power amp works fine with my MFX, and the clean channel plays nicely with my stomps.
