This website took my guitar playing to the next level. It enabled me to work out my own understanding of harmonic theory via the modes.

One really great guitar resource, in fact a national treasure, is a guy called Dave Simpson who happens to have his own youtube channel:

He is an exceptionally talented guitar player, who happens to have exceptional taste, in both the sound he gets and the notes he plays. A rare thing among guitarists. He also has that indefinable quality that some call 'mojo'. He can play blues, rock, anything really, but he loves his blues and rock especially. He'd have no problem playing jazz.
He likes his Stratocasters and is a big Fender fan. He also is in to Revelation guitars as well who sometimes send him a freebie for him to demo. But he's in to LPs as well as much as all the other stuff. But he does like his Strats - I'll give him that.
He's also a massive Hendrix and Gilmour fan. Oh, and John Frusciante.
He has a great selection of guitars and amps. His tone is always spot on. He demos his 'products' with usually a 5-10 minute impromptu jam. Usually just him and a quick backing loop. He travels. And he'll take you with him. He soars, he climbs, he laughs, he cries. It's a journey. Then he'll give you his honest appraisal of the gear (not like you need it at this point).
He covers the cheapest of all guitars (Bullets) and the most expensive (guess what?) Vintage Strats. He could make a plank with fishing gut on it sound good. He's a rare talent.
You can learn a lot about equipment at his channel. But you can learn even more about playing. He's extremely fast and fluid, but there is the sense this is never done to impress. He could shred, but he doesn't need to.
He's the whole package. He films in such a way that you can take bits of inspiration here and there, flipping from hard rock to soft ambient and ethereal stuff. He can rock a tone knob, he can rock a 5-way Strat selector. He can rock a 3-way Les Paul selector by doing the old 'turn one pup off' trick and actually use it like a Killswitch!
He plays from the heart, not the head. I put him in my top 10 of all guitarists ever, up there with Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top and John 5 (Billy is Top 5 though). Funnily enough, Hendrix doesn't cut it for me, though I appreciate his contribution (it's lonely at the top).
Dave Simpson is not an original guitarist in the sense that he has his own unique style. And he's an anomaly in my Top 10. He's probably the only one that lacks a distinct solitary vision. But, and it's a big but, he plays with such panache and aplomb that it's impossible to not be totally taken over by his playing. It is transcendent, both for him and the listener. He is mercurial, but he is also salt of the earth.
He goes to a strange place when he plays and he takes you there with him. He uses the guitar both to communicate emotion, and to overcome his own personal demons. He makes no bones about his own mental health struggles. It's all there. What you see is what you get. One day he's UP, some other days he's DOWN. His playing always communicates though, and he always transcends, transmutates, even. This is not just guitar playing, it is alchemy and dark arts, meant to bring light and shine that rare light on even the most recessed parts of the human spirit...
And he doesn't e-beg! It's all for free.
If you want to learn how to play like Hendrix, or Gilmour. Or even that fella Frusciante. Then this here is your boy!
He's very heavy, very humble. Go to his channel and learn how to play guitar, whether you are just a beginner or an intermediate, or even a professional - you will learn something from the master.
