Well, my eBay bid was successful - so it's a Soul Food for me ;)

If it's "thin" that's OK with me because I'll pair it with my OCD (ge which is a little dark) and Prince of Tone (also a little thin and bass light, but I love it. It also plays very nicely with the OCD ;-)

Rainger pedals look pleasantly deranged (as people say in Dutch).

I'm usually not one for taking the piss, but...

Is it amp, distortion, modulation, cabinet? And what is a pre-amp for?
And what is your favorite freeware for guitars? :help:
Not exactly pedals. Any suggestions?
Currently trying to turn noise into music. Is boutique the new old?

I use a similar order for both hardware and software. That is (as required):

Guitar (or Bass) > Boost/Fuzz > DI > Overdrive > Distortion > Preamp > Modulation > Delay/Reverb > Power Amp (or just Amp if no Pre or FX Loop) > Cabinet

The purpose (at least how I use it) of the preamp is as the main tone shaper (EQ & possible Bright option) as well as providing gain and drive, or supplementing pedal fuzz/drive/distortion. The power amp only has a volume option, and sometimes not even that, so the preamp sets up the signal for it. Distorting the power amp is a good thing and sounds sweet.
I miss MindPrint. My TRIO needs a big brother.

My big box 90's Rat (with the Motorola chip people seem to prefer) has been acting up so I just ordered one of the JHS modded Rats. Might get the old one repaired, but from the demos I've heard of the JHS, maybe not. Seems to do what I like about the Rat but while sounding better. Won't ship until February but I'm psyched to try it out.
