Pulled the trigger on a pedal, after the second hand LP copy guitar sale fell through.

Someone had beat me to it, I had my chance, it wasn't meant to be. Had some humbucker sized P90's eyed up for it.

Anyway, here's a quote for the pedal. Everywhere is sold out, on order.
"The Cheeky Pint’s optical compression works with a Light Dependant Resistor, retaining the type of natural ‘lag’ that you’d find on classic studio compressors from the 60s. This is considered highly desirable by producers and musicians alike."

Mosky Obsessive Compulsive Drive (micro), on the radar, sounds warmer than the Mooer Hustle, to me at least.
There's also a larger hand-wired version.

Prolly a Fasel inductor for my Cry Baby, and either a Fuzz Face or the parts to build one (which is a hell of a lot harder to build than you'd think from such a simple circuit), and same for a Univibe. I seem to have a theme going here, but what it is escapes me. I guess I'm not experienced enough, alas.
Wait... loot _then_ burn? D'oh!

I just took a flyer and ordered a couple of Zoom pedals.

They've been out for several years but I only heard about them today. Lots of mixed reviews. Some say they are absolutely amazing, others say they are very hard to use and difficult to get the best out of. Both those things seem to be true. Quite a few people say they are noisy as well, in parts. And the overdrive/distortion presets are a bit 'iffy'.

But then again, we are talking about a pair of pedals that cost me less than 80 quid each, so, we'll see...

Couple of videos that I'm still checking out:

Sound pretty good to me.

I like the idea of a whole Multi-FX in a pedal via DSP.

Not so keen on spending thousands on boutique pedals that need a proper home and space. It's not just the money. I like the convenience of having a couple of pedals you can hook up and get 'most of the way there' with. Hopefully.

I wanted to get a Strymon, but after watching these vids I decided to spend a bit more again and just get these two Zoom pedals (for guitar mostly, but can be used on my new Behringer synths) and also a TC Electronic reverb unit along with a Behringer Multi-FX unit.

https://www.thomann.de/gb/behringer_fx_2000.htm

The Behringer has looping and amp sims, so maybe it will be ok for use with guitar. It was less than a hundred quid, so another 'flyer' on my part. I'm trying to get together a few cheap FX units to populate my mixers with, which in turn will be populated by cheap synths and drum machines (think Behringer again).

The TC Electronic reverb looks interesting. Hopefully a workhorse:

This is a good video of it in action -

I also bought a cheap Behringer mixer/USB interface. Has a couple of aux sends plus the included embedded FX. Looks good. I plan on getting a Soundcraft a bit later on. Just a small one.

I spent half as much on cables and jacks as I did on the mixer. Man...

I'm holding out on the Behringer Drum Machines and synths for the moment. Though I may just bite the bullet on the TR-808 clone in the next day or two. Going to get the ARP as well.

And oh, how could I forget, this was a real fun purchase today:

Yeah, it can FSU, but it can enhance, compress, EQ, distort. Sounds great, especially on drums. I think it was about 8 quid in the sale. Now that is going to be useful on guitar.

Can't wait to plug in my old Boss HM-2 from the 80's (check out this joker - 300 Euros! https://reverb.com/item/26048663-boss-h ... al-80s-mij :hihi: ) in to my new super duper Zoom multi-fx DSP wonders in a box.

What a time to be alive!

For the price of what that joker wants for his shitty old raspy Boss HM-2, I bought those 4 state-of-the-art DSP machines I just mentioned.

:tu:

I doubt any of those units I just got are Lexicon class. Hell, I bet they don't even sound half as good as Valhalla DSP in software. But they are just there to fill a few gaps, make up the whole, hopefully with a bit of synergy on top.

If not...

Multistomp, that's the first I've seen of them. lots of fun to had there.

Recently got a LovePedal OD11 https://tonereport.com/reviews/lovepedal-od11. Nice transparent overdrive that stacks well with other gain pedals. Got a Monoprice 5watt tube amp this summer. Great little amp for just over $100.

Mine died a while back too. Think I can repair it, but can’t figure out how to get the board out without snapping it...

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Mine now works as a volume pedal, which for all wah-wahs means one particular capacitor has failed. I found the circuit diagram online, so know which one to replace. Unfortunately mine is the one with the variable Q control, so a standard board won’t fit. The problem with getting the board out is I have 2 trim pots soldered to the board which are preventing me from turning it at an angle until I pull the trim pots free of the case.

I have a spare (a classic Vox reissue) so haven’t gone back to try again.

well i couldnt stop the urge overkill. and i am in hunting mode for a dean- yes yes i know no more good bla china bla dime is dead bla...but i dont care - and its either a dean v select black or a v select floyd quilt top tbz. hard to get one, either sold out or no more deans in stock in some shops.
i checked a gazillion of v shaped guitars, but the only ones i liked so far are either dean or schecter.

Post

I think I could go for the Schecter over a Dean. Dean is one of those brands where every single one I have played is a mess of poor quality build.

Post

I like Dean for bass guitars, the build and finish are fine on the mid-range 5-strings I've played. The budget guitars weren't so good.

My Electro-Harmonix Attack Decay arrived. When I read about it, I sold my tc electronic Crescendo, and it doesn't disappoint. Its footprint is used more efficiently than on most EHX pedals, as it's loaded with mini knobs as well as common ones. It comes with a 9.6V adapter though, which is prolly required to get the most out of it.

I also got a used old 3-knob Skreddy Screwdriver. It took me on a trip just now, when I finally was able to switch it off I activated my Fuzz Face for a sec, thinking "what a great sound this Skreddy has" and then going "oh my, I like my Fuzz Face even better". How spoilt I am :)
