Sennheiser AMBEO Orbit Crashes my DAW

Hello!
I would really like to use Senheiser's Ambeo Orbit VST plugin to give some sounds and music a binaural effect in my mixes. However, every time I try to add this plugin to one of my tracks in my DAW of choice, Cakewalk by Bandlab (the latest version and all previous versions that I have had), it crashes the software. I am running an NVIDIA GTX 1070 ti with the latest drivers, an Intel Core i7-6700k, and 16GB of ram on Windows 10 Home 1809.

I opened an empty project, added one track with no audio recorded and simply added the plugin to that track, and the program still crashed. It also does this to any other project I open it in. Here is the error message it displays:

A fatal error has occurred.

Module: c:\program files\common files\VST3\Senheiser AMBEO Orbit.vst3

A crash dump file has been created here: (my crash dump directory)

Exception code: c00000fd

Address: 00007FFF7777B958:0000000000000000:0000000000000065

I am also currently looking for help on Cakewalk's support forum with no luck.

Oddly enough, I was able to get AMBEO Orbit working in Audacity, but I would much rather use it in Cakewalk. If anyone could help me solve this ongoing issue that would be absolutely fantastic and I look forward to your help and tips. Thank you in advance!

Hello and thanks for posting in our new forum!

I just tried to replicate your problem -- and it works fine on my machine, so the issue must be more intricate.

I'm running:
  • AMBEO Orbit 1.0.1
  • Cakewalk 2019.09 (build 70, 64 bit)
  • Windows 10 1809
A couple of questions to you:
  • What kind of soundcard are you using?
  • Are the proper drivers selected in Cakewalk?
  • What's buffer size?
  • What's your project's sampling rate?

Hi all,

Many thanks for bringing the issue to our attention. If possible, could you please provide the crash dump file/report that is generated?

Have you been able to use the plugin in the past with your DAW (Cakewalk/ProTools/Reaper)? If so, when did the issue start appearing?

Also, are you currently using AMBEO Orbit version 1.0.1?

I have the same problem.

I have been able to test on another laptop and it does work.
On my computer I use Reaper normally until I activate the Orbit plug in. Reaper is closed directly.

As described here - please give the new DearVR MICRO a try:
viewtopic.php?f=294&t=555305

It's the official "rebranded" successor of Orbit and is also free. Our colleagues from Dear Reality (a Sennheiser Company) will be able to provide better support. Please try out MICRO

Thanks,
