What is the output?

I guess maybe my question is bad. It calls itself a filter. So is the midi that shows up on the piano roll the midi I played or the corrected midi from Auto theory? So if I play a note, will I see a note in the piano roll and hear a chord or will I see an actual chord in the piano roll?
I am asking because I bought a similar item, but it just changed the sound and not the midi. So it works for the output instrument but is not exportable as midi to another instrument.
Thanks.

It just receives and sends MIDI notes, in realtime.
Not audio.
You DAW is going to see it the same as a MIDI keyboard sending notes.
[edit] In short: You use it pretty much the same as you would a MIDI keyboard.

Here is the workflow:
AutoTheory receives midi from your keyboard.
AutoTheory augments/adjusts the midi.
AutoTheory sends the new midi into the DAW.
You will need to deactivate your keyboard inside of your DAW.
You can route midi cc through the "AutoTheory 1" Device.
