Windows 10 64bit Home
AMD Piledriver quad 4.2Ghz 16MB RAM
Reaper 5.04 x64
AutoTheory 2

Frequent BSOD crashes - on the blue screen the module sbvmidi64.sys is named as the offending process. This only occurs when Autotheory is running (usually bypassed, but not always) at the same time as Reaper - naturally one would want to run these things concurrently. If I do not run Autotheory when working with Reaper, the issue does not arise.
Any ideas whether there is some Windows issue/Reaper issue/Autotheory issue behind this?
Perhaps some Windows background service (of which there are many - not all necessary I'm sure) could be disabled or reconfigured?

If you would like more system info, e.g. memory.dmp, please advise.

Have you deactivated your midi controller from within Reaper?

Post

Yes, I deactivated the Digital keyboard and enabled only the several Auto-Theory virtual devices.
Everything works when it works, but I get these OS crashes at random intervals always implicating sbvmidi64.sys
I have even tried excluding AuthoTheory.exe from Windows Defender scans in case of that - no change.
Is there a conflict of 64 bit environment with AT being 32 bit? - I guess sbvmidi64.sys is doing some bridging(?). I guess its a Microsoft file, so what would be the proper version number?

Having similar issue here also. Today I purchased Auto-Theory, installed on my Win 7 64bit PC, and have twice experienced BSOD whilst using Auto-Theory within FL Studio 12.2.

Is there any update? Were you able to find root cause and a fix for this?

Post

Is there any update on this issue? I have the latest version (3.0.3) of Autotheory installed as well. My crashes occur even when I am not using Autotheory. I've noticed that they most often seem to occur after the PC has been sitting idle for a while. For instance if I pause a session to go grab a bite to eat, when I return the DAW will often BSOD shortly after I engage the transport. I use SONAR Platinum as my primary DAW.

This is something that has affected a handful of users, and relates to the AutoTheory driver "sbvmidi". It relates to a problem with the driver interacting with certain environments. Due to a low number of cases, we have not been able to isolate exactly what the issue is. We will be seeking outside help on this in the upcoming weeks.

The bsods can be random but i notice that once i've been away for a while and then play a note it happens instantly. It also seems to happen more frequently when im playing multiple instruments at the same time (such as in the image below) but it does still happen when im just playing the piano for example. All the instruments in my template are hosted in Vienna Ensemble and Kontakt and are connected to a Saffire Pro 24 Interface

This issue has been resolved. Two minor bugs in the driver were found and corrected. You can download the updated version from our buy now page www.autotheory.net/buy-now.
