Bitwig 3.1, what does the new controller API implies?

in the changelog for the 3.1 version, there's this item:

"New high-level API for defining low-latency hardware controls and simplified script development"

what does simplified script development mean? anybody ?

They introducted a number of new classes to handle input from hardware controls (see HardwareSurface). It's not that big a deal, anybody who wrote a script until now already did this work, but now Bitwig wrote an API for it so developers don't have to do it themselves anymore.
