Hello everyone
is there a way to change the channel via pedal? I was thinking for me would be really useful in live situations to prepare all my different vsts on different tracks of a DAW and give a different channel each and then switch between them with the pedal. Usually i do it by assigning channel 1 to split 1 and channel 2 to split 2 and then i just change the split with the pedal, but this way i am limited to only 2 sounds.
Is there maybe a better way? Any suggestion is welcomed :D
Bye :)

Unfortunately LinnStrument has no way to use foot/panel switches for changing the Main MIDI Channel setting. The intended method for changing sounds in an external synth is the Preset function, which sends standard Program Change messages. I see the problem: DAWs usually don't permit changing tracks with Program Change messages because DAWs are optimized for recording, not live play. Perhaps a host that is focused on live play would have this feature? For example, Apple's Logic (intended for recording) doesn't permit the use of Program Change messages to select tracks, but Apple's MainStage (intended for live play) does.

Thank you Roger. Good to know, at least. I will look for some live oriented software for windows. Or i will search a different way
(i remember some plugin for Reaper that allows for better live setup). Or i will finally switch to mac. I am also really tired of the lack of stability of any asio driver on win. I had an iconnect audio interface and i stopped using it because of the constant crashes. I bought a scarlett and it's even worse. Without any audio interface the latency is too high. Everything really not optimal for live plays.

I think Microsoft wishes music users didn’t exist. :) I can understand why. Low latency audio is the only computer use that requires frequently interrupting the deep system levels, yet musicians are a tiny part of their market. Microsoft seems to think that low latency is telephony, which requires about 50 mS response. Mac has always been about creativity so fast response is deeply baked into the hardware and OS. It’s just a shame that they charge so much. But I suspect that your music-making will be easier if you were on Mac.

Robin Vincent also gets impressive low latency results using an Arturia Audiofuse on Windows machines; he has a couple videos that focus on that specifically. Regardless, there's a lot of useful info on his channel with respect to PC music production in general:

Thanks a lot John. I will have a look at them right now. I completely forgot about camelot (and i was also in the beta testing list!)
Thank you

In case it helps, I've just taken the plunge and moved from Mac to Windows (to save money).

I have a i7-based Lenovo T480 running Reaper and modelled VSTs, not samples - Pianoteq, Audiomodelling sax/clarinet/strings.

Using the internal audio and WASAPI drivers at 132 samples, Reaper reports 10ms/28ms latency (which is what I was able to use on the previous mac). With one or two celli (which seems the most demanding of my instruments) playing at a time it is absolutely fine. With 3 celli I get occasional glitches. With 4+ I get quite a lot of glitches. Having said that, I tried a high-end macbook pro and only got one extra instance before the glitching happened. Pianoteq is happy to play a lot of polyphony without breaking up.

I have to admit that I occasionally get audio glitches just after I have started up, especially with Pianoteq, which never happened on my old i5-based macbook pro. But once I've prodded a few notes, it seems to pass - so I am comfortable using it live.

(I would also like to use the Linnstrument program change messages to control the muting of tracks in Reaper, but have not been able to make this work yet!)

Cheers!
