Doesn’t work in BWS as much as I can tell.
Isn't that a visual issue, though? From what I can hear, cranking the gain on a drum loop (not just in editor, but also by using Tool) and bouncing to 32bit and then lowering it again the sound stays intact despite the lopped off waveform.

Yes, just visual in BW.

This thread is getting ridiculous. Post your proof or GTFO.

Does this track sound "muffled" in any way? No, it does not! Produced 100% top to bottom in Bitwig 3.0.3.

You maybe right Yokai but, in the majority of the cases, you can’t change people’s perception.

Just keep making great videos. :tu:

In twenty years Bitwig emulators sell like cake to get back that gorgeous muffled sound of this Baphometrix heroine...
I don‘t get the „problem“ anyway, there are tons of equalizers out there including free ones to choose your personal favorite. I prefer those who have a „sound“ anyway... „“anyway...
And if you need some extra high end highs above 12 kHz, I can be hired as triangle virtuoso, just never filter the triangle...

fyi, i am going thru the betas, and of course everytime i ti a reinstall but it fixed the issue. I must have tweaked something along the way that caused this.

Well, that's good it's sorted!
Bitwig, against the constitution.

Just to clarify,

I was not attacking bitwig at all or their integrity. The issue happened and i was surprised by it. Like i said i do not know the cause of this. It may be an audio driver issue also. I have a copy of Fl studio, cubase and ableton installed. Different daws, different ways of using audio drivers so maybe after me leaving these alone and coming back to bitwig and doing a fresh install, maybe the audio drivers settings of bitwig took over or some sort of dll in the latest install ( if any) fixed something. Who knows. I don't know what else could have done this other than that. so case closed.

I've noticed that different DAWs can sound different depending on how hard you are driving the levels. If you levelling is good this differential sound disappears. I noticed this in Bitwig. It did sound different from other DAWs i.e. there did seem to be a kind of muffling until I sorted the levelling properly then I could get it to sound exactly the same as other DAWs.

Since you never want to say I told you so yourself ...

I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself.

Bitwig is generally quieter than other DAWs (for whatever reason, mostly the default -10dB setting) and I'm sure you're aware that same material sounds different at different loudness due to varying perception of frequencies by human ear? Well balanced song will comparatively "lose" significant amount of content & detail outside of 2-4kHz range while playing quietly, which can make it sound lifeless and muffled.

So it's not Bitwig's fault. It's just a result of loudness war, that Bitwig decided to not participate in by default.

Loudness is in the ear of the beholder...
