...and another "El Harillo" patch, this one emulates a robot voice saying "I". Upper register sounds more like the Chipmunks and the lower register kind of reminds me the sampled voices from Laurie Anderson's "Home of the brave".

And this time I did an emulation of Lakshminarayanan Shankar's ten strings electric violin sound. Controls are set to work with the Linnstrument but should also work with any MPE controller. I have it set to be monophonic, but it makes for a nice pad sound if you turn polyphony on.

String synthesizers were popular in the 70', they were mostly preset oriented and not very versatile but they left a mark on the music of the time. Here I made a recreation of that sound, not inspired by any model in particular but following the concept. I called it "Stringy" and you can dowload it from Bitwiggers:

Any Sigur Rós fans here? well, they used to play an old Yamaha toy sampler that I also had as a kid, the PortaSound VSS-30. I lost it somewhere and missed it a lot, wanted to buy one on Ebay but because of that band the prices were madly expensive (for a toy sampler) so now I made a Grid version of it called "Toy Sampler". It is a Lo-Fi thing, very good for making noises, nasty non-pitched sounds, weird loops, out of tune mayhem... you get the picture.

Get it here:

I've been building a Moog DFAM clone in 'The Grid' and finally got it into shape with some presets uploaded. It's called 'GDFAB'...

GDFAB - Grid Drummer from another Brother

This is based on the Moog DFAM analogue sequencer. The architecture of the DFAM is adhered to (I have a real DFAM to compare against) including the weird envelope behaviour where the envelope is not re-triggered under certain circumstances. This behaviour is simulated using envelope followers.

The only real differences are: -
- Phase modulation instead of FM.
- Using the SVF filter for high-pass mode.
- CV Patching is not included as for the most part patching on the DFAM disconnects existing routing when plugging in a cable.
- Pitch knobs and Velocity knobs are replaced by two step sequencers.
- Noise and external audio input can be used simultaneously via the mixer.

Additions: -
- Drift option is included that uniformly drifts all the oscillators by a small amount over time.
- Internal/External sequencing button to use note/velocity data from the main DAW.

Notes: -
- The 1&2/Off/2 dial simulates the 'Seq Pitch Mod' 3 way toggle switch. 0%-33% = VCO 1&2, 33%-66% = Off, 66%-100% = VCO 2 (I couldn't think of a better way to do it).
- This is just an attempt to get the feel of a DFAM, it is not supposed to sound identical to a DFAM!

There are 3 presets so far (under GDFAB): -

My version of the Supersaw concept, based on Polarity's latest video and Grid Patch (thanks!). It is called "Soupersaw".

Added more patches for the Soupersaw, it is kind of fun to recreate all those Trance sounds...

If you like Allan Holdsworth you're going to love this one: an emulation of the Yamaha UD-Stomp Modulation Delay. I recreated some of the Holdsworth presets (may add more in the future).

bitwiggers.com is a fantastic site, both in concept and in the way it has been constructed. My only slight gripe with it is the fact that 99% of the presets are Grid related. Surely there's scope for the other Bitwig devices to have some interesting presets made for them as well!

The Grid is new and we hadn't a lot of presets until recently. It think it's a matter of getting caught up.

Besides, the Grid can do everything that the other built in synths modules can do plus much more. I don't even mess with the others any more because I know the Grid can d it all.

Me too, I'm using the Grid mostly, then also sampler (in and out of the Grid) makes no sense to me going back to any other Bitwig synth, the Grid is fast, sounds better and does exactly what you want, what's there not to like?

For the effects I use the FX Grid for choruses and delays, tremolos, panning, volumes, gain, filters, boosters and distortions, but I still use the old reverb device, Rotary speaker and Equalizers. I could upload some reverb presets if someone is interested, never occurred to me to share those presets.
