What exactly is a "Collection" in Bitwig?

I'm having trouble comprehending what collections are. I have 2 files in ~/Library/Application Support/Bitwig/Bitwig Studio/library/presets called "Modular Factory Presets.collection" and "myPresets.collection" In the presets tab in the Browser, there is no content yet in these collections.

So do collections just store any type of content you want to save as a pointer to that content? Or does the actual content itself get saved?

How are collections different than just saving presets?

Only a reference is saved in the collection, not the real stuff. You can save anything in a collection even the same thing in multiple collections.

Does anyone know how to put multible searchwords to a smart collection?

I want to organize my samples a bit and in case of hi-hats i want every file that contains hihat or hi-hat or hh in the file name.
