"Some things that we miss in Bitwig:
- pre-defined automation shapes (sine, ramps, etc.),"

dunno

and I've only used three types of modulator which ones can be assigned to anywhere using different amounts

Sure, but if you need few shapes used consecutively or interchangeably in the same track then it's not so easy anymore. Doable, but not so easy :)

that would be note triggered modulation depth on the different envelopes or on slider using notes with different MIDI channels, still more versatile than playing with different automation curves

drawing envelopes were always PITA for me and my eyes

ps. notesidechain can be connected to the a/b slider of the mix modulator that one is even more usable

Oh, come on! I love Bitwig and uninstalled 10 Suite last week because I've not launched it in 6 months, but you can't be serious that this is easy and fast to do, when you just need quick result :)

If i have to choose, i'd still prefer Audio Slide (in 2.5) to this. I can now chop and shuffle loops like a boss! 8)

People seems to underestimate Audio Slide feature in 2.5. This is a bless!

Frankly, I'm one of them but I don't edit audio a lot... Glad to hear it's useful, though :)

now please repeat it with automation (draw some pre-defined automation shape then modify its intensity and frequency by hand using control points)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZCeTeUQ15Y
still dunno

what I miss from Bitwig is the MIDI chasing, free note resizing, listening back multiple MIDI notes, and groove things https://ask.audio/articles/all-about-gr ... leton-live
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eU7yY8rVaE
modulation instead of automation is ok for me

I get your point, I do. But you had to speed the video up for it to be bearable and it was still almost 2 minutes long... Bitwig will have to add pre-made automation shapes anyway, because that's something most DAWs have (I'm aware of FL, Reaper and now also Live).

What's "free note resizing"?

" had to speed the video up" it was realtime :D
"What's "free note resizing"" sry mean scaling ...

in this case you don't have to record your material at the project tempo, can be played slower and adjusted later for ex.

Ah, indeed! Sorry :dog: :)

Oh, yeah - clip stretching (because that's what it basically is) will be very useful for both audio & MIDI, although I wonder how they'll solve it considering Bitwig's clip is a container and can include several events? I guess we'll see :)

If Im not wrong, you can not draw automation shapes with pencil in Ableton (like in Studio One FL etc). Only insertable. Hope bitwig will have them drawable. Now grid is out of the way I am hoping for more workflow improvments. Especially for piano roll and arrangement in particular that brings it on par with usual suspects.

I take it you mean "paint pre-defined automation shapes", right? Like hold-drag your mouse pointer across a 2-bar length painting in 16th sines for example?

Because in both Live and Bitwig you can draw automation (shapes) using pen tool.

Yes like select a triangle etc and brush it like studio one. I think in Live you can not do this.

That is my impression... which would be a disappointment (if I still used Live)... also, cause you cannot record automation and then turn that into a repeatable shape. I like how Reaper handles that.

Strange to do all the great things about new automation shapes, transform etc and leave the most useful workflow for it out :)
