Live 10.1 beta adds few things I'd like to see in Bitwig

Some things that we miss in Bitwig:
- pre-defined automation shapes (sine, ramps, etc.),
- time-selecting automation lane creates temporary "automation clip" that can be resized (stretched, compressed), reversed, etc.
- bounce of single track can include sends and/or master effects,

I'd love us to get all of them ^^^

I like the ability to resize/squeeze/expand/invert the automation curves. That's quite impressive.

Ableton hits back. :P
Let's hope Bitwig will follow with a kick after v3.0 and adds some midi/audio editing improvements.
Here is a somber outlook (for us Bitwig users): What happens if Ableton copies the workflow and other advantages of Bitwig, which very well may be happening (as they have the resources)... we shall see.

They already started, with ...things that I don't like about Bitwig, i.e. redundancies. At 10.1, Live has Simple Delay, Pingpong Delay, new Delay and the still quite new Echo. Just like we do with LFO or Envelope modulators ;) :dog:

If you're adding new stuff that's supposed to replace old solutions, then hide the latter (keep it around for compatibility with old projects, but hidden).

The new delay actually merges simple and ping pong delay. They're gone in 10.1 :)

Oh, really? That's nice! I've uninstalled Live last week and don't plan to coming back to it in the near future, but good to know they handled this right :)

I also really like what they did with Z, X, W, H keys. Below is the best walk-through of the new features I found on YT:

I don't get why Ableton did not yet implement note expression, isn't it part of the VST3 standard? So it currently seems to be a crippled VST3 support.

It's part of MPE standard, not VST3.

I don't think so. Cubase had note expression already years ago, with introduction of VST3. Then much later, they added MPE, too. It may is similar, but not the same.

Ok, but since we are in Bitwig's sub-forum I thought you're asking about expression as it is understood and implemented here, which definitely is a part of MPE spec :)

Very likely what Steinberg/Cubase did earlier influenced the creation of MPE?

Does Live support VST3 at all? They ignored it for years.
Bitwig is one of the few who do VST3 correctly. That is why Padshop and Halion combine perfectly with my LinnStrument. Bitwig automatically translates MPE to note expressions...
I have not found a single non Steinberg VST yet which implements note expressions. I have no idea why, its as powerful as MPE...

I have also Halion 6 and Padshop.
How did get it to work that MPE translates to note expressions? I am only able to use note pitchbend per note to work. NE1-8 I'm not able to assign!
Would be great if you can share your findings.
Thanks.

The Automation Features are probably the Biggest for me. Ableton's Automation power increased significantly with this Update for sure.
The post above this is likely bait, viewer discretion is advised.
