And we have massive abilities to process it's output in BW anyway. I thought it odd that there were no parameters for such things but just slapped a Note Pitch Shifter behind it/them. Which was actually quicker than having to look up a (albeit non-existent) midi map.

I did actually mean, within Bitwig, human tricks as opposed to "give me give me, I'm an artist, really I am", huh herm, tricks.

hmmm I wonder how would one translate a grammar nzi into the composer's musical context?Stamped Records wrote: ↑Thu Dec 06, 2018 8:37 pm I did actually mean, within Bitwig, human tricks as opposed to "give me give me, I'm an artist, really I am", huh herm, tricks.

Good find! Looking forward to getting it when this is implemented, because I liked the demo (although it has some stupid limitations preventing from checking the more interesting aspects of the device...). Can't really remember the demo limitations. No drag export was one. Easy enough to 'print' to another track though. The scales are great ('Enigmatic' on a Glockenspiel is well cool). I like it's simplicity and base randomness. It does not try to remotely be a 'write song' button. It really shine on multiple instances with maybe a bit of BW note post-processing. Simple example: 1 instance doing bass with low number of note and low note range doing pentatonic-minor, another instance doing higher up, more notes/wider range, using blues scale. The 2 instances know NOTHING of each other or 'proper' harmony rules and that I VERY much like.
[ spell checker was going for 'catatonic-minor' ]

For the grammar nazi analogy to work, it would require that the subject of the analogy was involved in the process - otherwise, who am I insulting anyway?SpaceCadetOnLeave wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 12:22 pmhmmm I wonder how would one translate a grammar nzi into the composer's musical context?Stamped Records wrote: ↑Thu Dec 06, 2018 8:37 pm I did actually mean, within Bitwig, human tricks as opposed to "give me give me, I'm an artist, really I am", huh herm, tricks.

In demo there are just 4 or 5 scales, no possibility to vary note lengths, tie notes or add rests/pauses. The last three in particular make it hard to judge the "quality" of its generative melodic engine, because without them it just sounds like a quick 16th notes arpeggio and there's abundance of those on the market... I contacted them and see what's the reply.Karbon L. Forms wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 1:20 pmCan't really remember the demo limitations. No drag export was one.

Far more useful than Riffer (which does nonsense most of the time) is Melody Sauce, which is now available as VST:

I'll probably add it to my arsenal when I have coin.Trancit wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 4:57 pm Far more useful than Riffer (which does nonsense most of the time) is Melody Sauce, which is now available as VST:

No demo. Well that's novel.
Reading the manual, it seems a bit too 'clever'. Those 'moods' kind of creep me out. I'm more interested in curating and manipulating more simplistically generated patterns than a 'create catchy song' button. I'll see when I get it.
I like Riffer's very random approach. I decide if something's 'dark' or not.
What scales are in there? I only see major/minor and the advice "should be in the key of the project you're working on". No! We're not all writing advertising jingles for chocolate and tampons here you know.
I'll see if I can find some videos.
