No problem. The only drawback is that the random part is different every time. You could get around that by using multiple random (but fixed once randomized) Steps modulators modulating separate Note Pitch Shifters put in layers of Note FX Layer, with layer picked up randomly (or by LFO) - then it would be random, but repeatable ;)

Yeah, the above actually makes sense once you read it slow :D

[quoteDoes it have to be in the Grid?

Because you can do it in the clip itself - in arranger or clip launcher, doesn't matter.
- you program both sequences in the same clip, but using different MIDI channels for each
- you switch between channels feeding the instrument with a Note FX Selector, with different Channel Filters inside of each Layer
- you add a Note Pitch Shifter, with Note-triggered Random modulator, that changes the pitch of incoming notes when the device is enabled
- you put a Diatonic Transposer in to force the notes into desired scale[/quote]

Hi what I cannot understand is how the random is switching between the midi note channel layers.

The polarity video is interesting but that is not doing what I would like. (Not sure where the download file went for that generative patch).

The Grid will do exactly what you want, melodyz, but you'll have to learn about using the logic modules and two of the mixer modules called "Select" and "Merge" to pull it off. I cover those things in my Gridschool series so maybe start there?

melodyz, here's Polarity's Github: https://github.com/polarity
You can find his presets there.

I believe it transposes the stream of notes that flows through it, no matter the MIDI channel. Obviously you could split MIDI channels with Note FX Layer and then apply transposition only to selected one(s).

+1 one for the grid subforum, thx

+1 the controller scripting forum is dead and just about the least helpful forum I’ve participated in. Who is the admin of this forum?
