Hello.

There are tons of samples cds with drum kits, but very few have midi loops that demonstrate the kits.

I'm mainly looking for drum kits that come with midi loop libraries.

What are my options in 2019? and even old stuff that deserves to be mentioned.

Kits with loops. Do you have Kontakt? Native Instruments have some good libraries that contain a grooves page. There are also some 3rd parts ones for the same sampler.

Some of the other usual suspects:

FXpansion
Toontrack
xln-audio
Anyone who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.

The answer is in each page. Let's take for example the pack for Techno & House.

First we read:
There are over 54,800 Techno and House drum loops in this library...
Then if we browse down the page to reach its FAQ, we read:
Why use Prosonic Patterns instead of audio loops?

Midi is a superior method of music composition for a number of reasons.

If you've ever used audio loops to write music you know how frustrating it can be to get them to fit just right in your song. You might find a great drum loop but how can you develop it while keeping the same drum sounds? You can only make variations on the timbre of the sound itself and that's it.

With Prosonic Patterns you have total control over every aspect of each note. Need to bring the hi-hats up in the mix? Easy! Need to change that note and make it sweeter? Just move it where you want it! Don't like a note . . . delete it!

You can also use a Prosonic Pattern on any instrument. So you can use a drum Phrase on any instrument (flute or violin for example) and come up with very unique and creative musical ideas!

You can even change the tempo of a Prosonic Pattern and the sound of the drums will be exactly as you sampled it.

What software can I use Prosonic Patterns in?

Every Prosonic Pattern is mapped to the General MIDI Standard and is compatible with, and can be loaded into, any General MIDI compatible software or hardware device (ie: your favorite sequencer).

Loading them into Propellerhead's Reason™ and Twelve Tone's Sonar™ has been especially rewarding. They are perfect for Cakewalk, Project5, Battery 3, Cubase, Garageband, Pro Tools, Motif ES, Fruity Loops, EZdrummer, DFH, Sony's ACID® Pro, Ableton Live, and many more!
As you can see, you have the answer... and not only the answer but also strong arguments to use these MIDI files instead of simple but rigid samples that you can't alter to your feeling and that you can't either use with different drum kits.

With MIDI loop files instead of audio loop files you can change a drum kit to any other drum kit, you try with all the products that you own... but also you learn how rhythms are structured, including their fills, breaks, etc. and you also make variations from a measure to another, all things that you definitely can't do when you simply just put ones after others some samples of audio files. You're definitely way more creative with MIDI files than with simple audio samples.

im aware of kontakt , battery and geist. geist is what seems to fit my needs better, since it has drum kits and lots of midi patterns. but it's not really what i am looking for. im looking for some product that has drum kits that you can load in any sampler (sfz format would be cool) and it has midi drum patterns to go along with those drum kits. i want to be able to use the drum kits + drum midi loops in any sampler + sequencer.
