Is there a demo for Avenger? I know I could look it up, but I too am having a beer.

Thanks for your purchase btw! It's paid for the two pints I've had so far.

Cheers Mark!

Yeah, there's a demo version of avenger.
https://www.vengeance-sound.com/plugins ... TRY%20DEMO

And this is how you import wavetables.

I've got both Serum and Avenger (well, waiting for the license transfer for Avenger to go through) and I'm new to this stuff (I'm a guitarist, and use some analog synths etc - until now) but let me know if I can help out with anything ;-)

I was advised over the weekend that the Serum files weren't acting as intended when dropped in to the Tables>Users folder - they do if importing via the oscillator import dialogue boxes.

Obviously, the former is preferable and the latter is a bit of a drag (pun intended).

I've added a file called FolderInfo.txt to each of the users' base folder. Just pop this in to each of your folders that contain wavetables generated by me in your Serum tables folder and you can skip the whole import malarkey!

Thanks to jbraner for bringing the problem to my attention 8)

Thanks Mark, for telling me about the file! ;)

BTW - I see in the manual (p56-57) it says
The second line (optional) will specify whether or not intermediate
interpolated tables should get created. The default is yes, if you wish
there not to be you just need an [n], e.g. [no interpolation].
Here are a couple example text files, first for a 786 samples-per-cycle
waveform with crossfade interpolation:
[768]
[interp]
(the second line is optional as it is the default)
Here is an example of 1024 samples-per-cycle with no interpolation:
[1024]
[no interp]

I've taken the [no interp] line out of the file you sent me - because I think I prefer it to build the interpolation tables. If it doesn't work out - I'll change it back ;-)

I found a link for creating a batch file to automatically copy a file to a bunch of folders (as long as they're all subfolders of the original one).
https://www.addictivetips.com/windows-t ... ws-10/amp/

EDIT: I tried this, but it's not working. I think it will take less time to copy manually ;)

OK, I got it working.
Everything has to be on the same line. I got rid of the /D, as it wasn't overwring a file that was already there (but with same date/time)

Also - it only drills down for one level of subfolder, so I had to put in a few lines to cover the subfolders.
Here is my version (put in your own paths)

Code: Select all

@echo off

REM MH folder
for /D %%a in ("e:\dropbox\My Documents\Xfer\Serum Presets\Tables\mh\*.*") do xcopy "E:\Dropbox\1 misc CD archives\wavetables etc\wavetables\FolderInfo.txt" "%%a\" /YA

REM 180716 folder
for /D %%a in ("E:\Dropbox\My Documents\Xfer\Serum Presets\Tables\MH\180716\*.*") do xcopy "E:\Dropbox\1 misc CD archives\wavetables etc\wavetables\FolderInfo.txt" "%%a\" /YA

REM MH single cylce folder
for /D %%a in ("E:\Dropbox\My Documents\Xfer\Serum Presets\Tables\MH\MH Single Cycles\*.*") do xcopy "E:\Dropbox\1 misc CD archives\wavetables etc\wavetables\FolderInfo.txt" "%%a\" /YA

There must be a way to copy to all folders, no matter how deep - but we're entering diminishing returns.
Iow it's easier to just adjust this file, than figure out how to do it better 😉

I've just added ~400 short semi-algorithmic/mathematically-generated drum/percussion loops designed to work with DUNE3's wavetable in one shot mode. The loops are algorithmic in terms of the rhythm of the loop as well as the sounds, which were generated using a mixture of real FM and various colours of noise.

In DUNE3, put the wavetable section in one shot mode and modulate wavetable position however you wish, e.g., a rising ramp in a MSEG will sweep through the loop in the correct order. You will need to pitch the WT oscillator down 36 semitones to get the original pitch, but pitch changes are something you might want to modulate too.

I'm not sure what other WT synths these will work in as intended. DUNE3 in one shot mode can be made to act as a groove reslicer.

The loops, however, can be used in samplers or programs that do groove reslicing. Again, you'll need to pull the pitch down on these (if you want).

Here is a link to a demo that contains 16 loops for those that want to test.

https://1drv.ms/u/s!AqyauWxlz_jVgeySdmcQYtyKBPIrGdw

If you want more loops, plus many more traditional wavetables for only £10, then follow the link in my signature.

EDIT: Current users will find the new loops in a zip folder called MH FM+Noise Loops.zip towards the bottom of their user folder.

Here's a DUNE3 patch to use with the loops and to get you started.

For Hive users:

Just cutting my teeth on uhm scripts and, whilst working out ways of making the alternative FM waveforms, e.g., for OPL3, HX1 and TX81z, came up with this:

Code: Select all

Info "FM with random modulator\nBy Mark Holt\n"

//Simple 2-op Yamaha style FM using semi random modulator.
//Use the envelopes to make semi-random phase ramps to define piecewise simusoids.
//You can changte the curve type for the envelop for subtle variations.
//Choose random real numbers for env levels. These can be outside the range +/-1.
//For symmetrical modulators make sure that L1/L4 and L2/L3 are equal, but opposite, e.g., L1=0.45, L4=-0.45.
//The carrier here is a sine, but can also be semi-random like the modulator.
//In each wave target chnage the integer to the required coarse frequency.
//In the Wave sections there is a power variable at the end (^1 and ^3).
//This value can be any odd number >0. 1 would be the usual value.
//You can see the effect of the ^3 on a sine in the first frame of the wavetable.

NumFrames=256

Envelope curve=linear L0=0 T1=0.2 L1=0.95 T2=0.2 L2=-0.86 T3=0.2 L3=0.86 T4=0.2 L4=-0.95 T5=0.2 L5=0
Wave target=aux1 "2*phase"
Wave "sin(2*pi*env(aux1%1)+1*table^2*x)^1"
Normalize Metric="Peak" Base=each
Wave target=aux1 "1*phase"
Wave "sin(2*pi*aux1+1*table*x)^3"
Normalize Metric="Peak" Base=each
It basically allows you to define your own piecewise modulator using an envelope to define piecewise phase ramps.

Any feedback welcome, since I'm still learning here!

Lots to experiment with, e.g. easily extendable to 3-op and further, so hopefully have fun!

Hi Mark,

I have a question about the Wavelet Editor.
So, it looks like there are 8 positions, should I be able to load single cycle WAV files into each position?
(clicking "load" doesn't seem to do anything here)
Or is it really just meant to create the waveforms inside the Editor?

Hi John,
You need to have the Ld button active as well.

Let me know if that's not the case.

Cheers,

Mark

Yep, that works - thanks again!

BTW - what are the other buttons for?
I would have thought RAN is for Random - but there's a big RANDOM button.
I would have thought that Add would let me add maybe another single cycle WAV? But it just seems to bring me back to a sine - in section A anyway...
