Always knew renaming and changing plugin ID was a bad idea

Hi,
has this happened to anyone else?
Tried today to open a project done in 2015 and Cubase 9.5 and 9 kept crashing.
Looked at the crash log and realised it was spire causing the crash.
Realised that the project was done with Spire pre 1.1 which apparently is not compatible with either cubase 9/9.5 and or Sierra 10.12.6 so crashville.
I had to remove Spire, and reassign those tracks to Spire 1.1 (1.1.14).
Always knew this was a bad idea on Reveal Sound's part.

Have other encountered such issues and how did they solve it?
Fortunately I dont' use Spire that often so it won't happen often.

For some reason my older version was not the last of the oldest one (I was running 1.0.20 not 1.0.21) which seems a lot stabler for Cubase 9.
Crisis averted for now.

Seems that this version was done January this year, probably to prevent such issues as I was having.
