Old versions of Spire get crash then you try to open presets saved in 1.1 . Thats why they make new ID version for it.

Personally feel it's it's a nice move.
Old projects still supported and a smooth transition to new projects with the new improved version.
Not many manufacturers give you the legacy version and the modern version for free.

but what happens next week, when the next .vst or .dll is named "Spire-1.1.1"
The beta and old version were both called "Spire" and both showed up in the plugin list.

v1.1.1 would simply overwrite 1.1 I'm sure.
I'm divided on the approach, I like my old projects to not crash but I don't like have v1.x ID's either. I think I would like the ID to simply be Spire, the .dll filename have v1.1 in it, and let me figure out how to handle things in my DAW myself. I can move .dll's around when need be.

The main issue was the DSP rewrite, and that's also why the sound has changed slightly, making it necessary to make it separate to former versions, so older projects with the former versions are still compatible. Considering a complete DSP rewrite and change of sound is not really likely for future versions, you don't have to worry about that.

* Added microtuning support. Now Spire can be tuned using different temperaments using Scala tuning files. Also Spire can be tuned an A=432 Hz, known as Verdi’s ‘A’ / Pythagorean Tuning. Available frequencies from 432 Hz to 446 Hz.
* Fixed sound for some old presets;
* Improve stability;
* Added Dark skin.
The development of AAX version of Spire v1.1.x is under progress.

Previous Spire update(1.1.4) was released with some critical bugs. Please install and use the hotfixed Spire v1.1.5. Sorry for the inconvinience.
