Can i use Kairatune in commercial music production?
Yes you can.

Will Kairatune be polyphonic someday?
It is definitely possible, but not in the works at the moment.

Why does Kairatune 1.2 fail to load my old projects?
Kairatune 1.2 is not fully backwards compatible with prior versions. The parameter scheme and internal state data have undergone some significant changes, which causes version 1.2 fail to restore the sounds and state in projects made using versions 1.1 and 1.0. You can try, but your mileage may vary and we've found hosts that fail completely. If you want to continue working with prior projects and use Kairatune 1.2, before updating to 1.2, we would recommend you to either

a) Render all Kairatune parts to audio and remove all instances of Kairatune or

b) Export your presets to FXP files (or FXB if you have several per instance) via the Kairatune user interface and remove all instances of Kairatune, update Kairatune and load new instances to your tracks and load the exported presets to the new instances.

If you have parameter automation that you can not redo, you should render to audio. Otherwise you'll be happy with simply restoring the presets. Kairatune can load old preset files and banks, but it cannot playback old automation.

All this trouble is due to bad design decisions made prior to releasing the first version of Kairatune. We didn't expect Kairatune to become so popular so we weren't thinking this far back then. We're sorry for the inconvenience and we hope you get over to using 1.2 as smoothly and as soon as possible.

Why does it take longer to load when creating new instance of Kairatune 1.2 than it took with previous versions?
That's mostly because the preset manager takes a while to load all of the factory presets. Kairatune version 1.2 has more presets than version 1.1 and the preset manager is more complex. If you want to make it load faster, make a small custom set of presets and set that as default. You can still recall the factory presets on any new instance with the "Restore factory presets" option.
