Has anybody here had a chance to compare any of the above?

I love the hardware but need it in a VST.

It's absolutely forbidden to mention Softube modular in the modular synthesis forum.

Newb error.

Given I wanted a comparison between hardware and software I figured it was 50% Instruments forum and 50% Modular forum. I guess my dart landed on the wrong board.

There should be no difference between software versions as it is a digital module (and the source is presumably the same).

However, I struggle with levels in the VCV version; on almost all knob positions the output is too quiet. The Softube version seems to have something akin to AGC as the levels are quite consistent.

Émilie endorsed the VCV Mutable ports when they were released, and presumably endorses the Softube ports too.

Nevertheless, they do sound different (louder always sounds better of course).

What relation they have to the hardware I have no idea as I don't own it.

Thanks for the feedback.

I should add that the Softube version has only the original firmware. The VCV version has all 4 firmwares and there are ports of Parasites in VCV too.

I'll be downloading the Softube demo tonight and having a play. No idea why I didn't do so before posting TBH

The lack (ATM) of VST support. Yes, there is a workaround but it is a bit of a faff. More so than simply dropping in a plugin.

Ok so I'm sold.

Downloaded the demo and immediately achieved what I was hoping for (and more) with Softubes MI Clouds. I've put it on a reverb send and am automating the hell out of it, with another LFO to randomly modulate freeze

Man I cannot wait to find the hardware now!

LOL. Man I'm truly blown away.

To test it I dropped in a random drum loop, set Clouds up on the reverb send, and it's already a complete track.

Well there goes my weekend and any idea of sleep.
