Figured I'd start a thread to cover where to start on VCV modules. I'm new to the package and trying to learn, and looking for recommendations form the community. So far I've been mostly exploring the Fundamentals, Audible Instruments, Lindenberg Research, and Bogaudio.

Hoping we can keep this thread limited to the 800+ modules in the VeeSeeVST branch for now. If you want to explain why you like a particular module or what you use it for, feel free to expand.

Figured, I'd start the ball rolling:

Oscillators
Audible Instruments - Macro Osc, Macro Osc 2
Lindenberg Research - Woldemar
Bogaudio - VCO
Bogaudio - FM-OP
Audible Instruments - Tidal Modulator (this can be an osc, LFO, AD or AR)
VCV - E340 Cloud Generator (supersaw)

Filters
Lindenberg Research - Alma (seems Moogy - nice drive)
Lindenberg Research - Laika (Diode Ladder)
Lindenberg Research - Valerie (MS-20)

LFOs/Modulation
Fundamental - LFO-1/2
Audible Instruments - Tidal Modulator (this can be an osc, LFO, AD or AR)
Geodesics - Branes (great +/- S&H)
Befaco - Rampage (AD Envs, LFOs, function generator)

Envelopes
Fundamental - ADSR
Bogaudio - DADSRH+

Utilities
Fundamental - Mixer
Befaco - A*B+C
Befaco - Slew Limiter
Synthkit - Addition
Audible Instruments - Bernoulli Gate (probability gate)
Autodafe - Multiple 1x8
JW Modules - Simple Clock (for basic clocking)
Impromptu Modular - Clocked
21khz - Pitch Tools

Sequencers
Impromptu Modular - Foundry
Impromptu Modular - Phrase-Seq 16
Geodesics - Ions
Geodesics - Entropia

Effects
Valley - Plateau (Reverb)
Befaco - Spring Reverb

Sequencers
Imprompto .. excellent.
Geodesics... interesting.
TheXor.. again interesting, especially the made Klee ;)

Effects
Valley.. Plateau

Also do check out Vult.. he has both paid and free modules, both have the Trummor drum modules and his ADSRs I particularly like the Spank_ADSR with its loop mode.

Befacto's Rampage is also excellent...
There are so many, we're spoilt for choice )))

EDIT.. the Vult's are only in VCV_Rack.. yeah, didn't read all the first post..

How's the Amalgamated Harmonics stuff? Looks super cool. Might dig into that soon if it's worth learning.

Haven't done much with them and even then it saw months ago, sorry, can't help on that front. I spent more time with imprompto and the Klee, which is just one made crazy seq ;)

Fantastic modules, I love 'em.

A simple example patch including the AH Progress and Arpeggiator modules:

I believe there are many of these modules ported into VeeSeeVee.
Also please check my channel as well. Hope you'll find here something helpful.

Chronoblob is my new best friend, not sure if it's in your version yet, but it's in the official.

Just updated my list with some stuff I've been using in VCV Rack 1.0 that's available in VeeSeeVST. There's a lot of great modules in the official version that I don't think we'll ever get to see in VeeSeeVST sadly, but the same is also true in reverse (unless bsp wants to start doing official ports of some of his modules).

Chronoblob2 is free but closed-source, so I don't think you'll see it in VeeSeeVSTRack. Ditto for Hora, NYSTHI, EntrianFree, Erica, Blamsoft, Autodafe, Loopus, Vult, Stellare, OhmerPrems, Klirrfactor, and other plugins. All free :), but without publicly available source code :(.

Best regards,

Frankly, once the official VCV Rack V2 is out with VST Plugin support, that'll all become a non-issue for me. In the meantime though, I appreciate bsp's efforts with VeeSeeVST, even if I am using VCV Rack V1 more often these days.
