I'm trying to find out where Nord decided to limit the Pitch and Frequency Modulation of the OSC1 module, in order to emulate it.

I'd like, if you can please :

- create an instance of OSCA1 and set the internal frequency to 200 hz
- create another instance of OSCA1 and set the internal frequency to 2hz
- connect the output of 2hz OSCA1 to PM1 of 200hz OSCA1
- please start recording
- slowly bring up the modulation depth of PM1 until it reaches maximum
- stop recording
- move the PM1 connection to FM of the 200hz OSCA1
- start recording
- slowly bring up the modulation depth of FM until it reaches maximum
- stop recording

I'm not able to offer much in return, other than maybe the bidule cymbal patch in which this oscillator calibration features. :)

cheers :)

This isn't possible with the emulator/demo?

I'm sure I fiddled with that years ago and it didn't make any noise?

Better check it out

cheers :)

edit--

hmm, only os8/9 versions (no Windows here)

Still looking for a hardware owner to help! :)

No, the G2 demo which is an executable that implements a mono version of the G2 with some limitations. I'm not talking about the editor. I don't know if the behavior is changed from the G1, but it might be a place to start.

I have a G1 but I'm sure that the editor isn't running on any computer right now such that I could make a recording for you.

Scroll down a bit to find the "Nord G2 demo"

Thanks ghettosynth, but "You can't open the applications NMG2Demo because PowerPC applications are not longer supported" is what I get for G2 Demo

I guess you might have a bit more luck if you're on Windows?

I had a conversation about the editor recently. I know it works on win 8.1 and am told it still works in Win10 ...

I should have been more clear, I don't have a machine setup with the editor running and two free midi ports. It's sitting out. I've been meaning to set it up, it just hasn't happened.

Ah yes, the demo is not compatible with newer macs. It will work on almost any crusty old windows machine though.

The G2 demo works on newer macs with Wine:

The inner workings of the G2 are described here:

Instead of a 2hZ osc. ( lowest setting is around7 ) I used a 2 hz lfo goin into a 200hz .osc/
First going into pitch modulation ...gradually increasing depth ....then decreasing .

Second part of file ...moving into the FMA input of the osc ...gradualy increasing ..then decreasing

I don’t have my G2 set up right now and actually haven’t installed the software on any recent PCs. If I find the time this weekend, I’ll give it a try. I just hope the editor still works under Windows 10!
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Yeah, thanks guys - all is very much appreciated. I couldn't get the Wine remix working so these audio demos are very useful.

Again, cheers :)
