"we" is *always* plural - it refers to multiple people.
"I" is singular - it refers to just one person.

Russian tsars used to name selves (one person) in great titles by using "By the grace of God, we, the blessed and great sovereign"

I'd like to point out that it's not like we deliberately "hide" the API, the API is created manually by adding things that are useful and frequently requested by people. We are constantly adding things but everything takes time so we can't just flick a switch and make the whole app functionality available to the scripting engine.
