Mr. Stian,

I refer to Acoustica Premium 7.1.8, running on Windows 10 Professional 64-bit.

About the Crop tool:

--- 1. There is nearly no information about Crop in the Help files: no tab about it in the Help contents, and the word "Crop" does not exist in the Help index. Some information about the keyboard shortcut for cropping is available on the page "Basic Audio Editing > Editing using the Clipboard".

--- 2. When we load an audio file, select a region and then apply the Crop tool to the region, then the cropped region will occupy the whole clip editor window, but the cursor will have disappeared - there will be no cursor head (position marker) visible anymore. The cursor only appears again if we either press the button "go to end of file" or "go to beginning of file" on the toolbar, or click on the timeline just above the clip editor window. While the cursor is non-visible, no audio is played when we press the Play button on the toolbar.

So, there seems to exist some issue with the cursor when we use the Crop tool. When we select a region to be cropped, the cursor will be at the beginning of that region, so most probably the cursor should also be visible at the beginning of the resulting cropped region.

--- 3. When we load an audio file (which will be in full view), select a region and then apply the Crop tool to the region, and right afterwards Undo the operation, then we get a view of the file with a window duration apparently equal to that of the region that was initially selected - we do not return to the full file view that existed before the Crop.

Incidentally, the same thing happens with Delete: if we load an audio file (which will be in full view), select a region and then apply the Delete tool to the region, and afterwards Undo the operation, we do not return to the full file view that existed before the Delete.

I don't know whether there is a reason for this behaviour of Acoustica when Undoing either the Crop or the Delete operation. An analog situation occurs when we perform a Time Stretch, which will not provide us with a full view of the time-stretched file, if it was initially in full view state. These situations unnecessarily force us to apply a "View all horizontally" operation to the file, if we wish to have a full view of it.

Regards,

Paulo

Thanks for reporting, Paulo! Yes, the selection and cursor position should be updated after crop. The behaviour is a bit strange at the time being. I've added a bug entry for this. I'll also make sure that we add Crop to the help index.

Best,
Stian
