Does anybody know what might be causing this?

I can load up drum patches fine, but for synth patches, I get an error.

"Could not load... <filename> Invalid beat modifiers"

Any ideas?

It means the file contains something considered invalid. Since the file format is undocumented and import is only due to mine and (more so) others reverse engineering of it, this is not wholly surprising.
Please send the failing exs file + associated samples so I can fix the issue.

Thanks - there's quite a lot of them (!)
It's failing for every single synth patch from Sample from Mars. It works for the drum patches but every synth patch fails.

I would not say "every single synth patch". But I managed to find a few in the free sample kit. Stupid regression bug with tempo LFO.
Fixed in new 3.3.0a build, available now.

Not sure what I said wrong there but every 'keyboard' instrument (as opposed to kit patch) I've tried has failed. Thanks for the update I will see if it works.

Hmmm... I just did a load of work in Reaper using TX16Wx, and when reopening the saved file, get this error for every instance of the plugin so they all fail to load:
"Could not read XML data 204:24 - The attribute '<filenames>' is not defined in the DTD/Schema."
Is this a general issue with Reaper or is it supposed to work with Reaper?

Uhm, that does not sound right. There should not be anything generating such a tag. Can you send me the project file (preferably with samples)?

It does not say "pwm"? I just discovered a regression in the schema for synth mode, but the message you describe does not quite match...

Yeah <filenames> is a placeholder - there's a load of stuff in there. I can do it again and get the error message.

This is very strange - the issue has been there for about the last 6 times, and seems to have cleared for this load. However the samplers are loading up every single patch that I previewed, not just the ones which are selected on the tracks. Is this normal behaviour for the sampler? It is taking an extraordinary amount of time to load...

OK it just finished loading. None of the error messages came up, but none of the patches are present despite the fact it spend about 20 minutes loading up sounds. So I can't get the error message for you I'm afraid.
