When I try to activate my license, I get an error alert that reads:

Could not open file: /Users/neil/Library/Application Support/CWLM/act.dat: File exists

That file does indeed exist. However, deleting it doesn't help, the program just recreates it as an empty file, and then prints the same error message.

That sounds like a side effect of something being amiss with your key chain. Does your login keychain contain the password com.cwitec.TX16Wx.Dataprotector, and is it accessible to the DAW app?

That item does exist in the keychain. The access control is set to allow access to all applications. No application is specifically named.

Is this 'File exists' error what you would expect if the keychain was denying access?

Interestingly, the keychain item 'Account' is set to 'cwlib' and it will not grant me permission to view the password it contains.

When you tried to verify the licence, were you asked to provide access to the key chain object? Did you deny it?

That was like a year ago now... can't exactly remember what happened back then. Is there a way to force it to create a new license?

Okay, I was able to fix this by opening the plugin in a different host. Opening it in Reaper works okay, so the keychain item must be good.
