AEG Envelope - per group or program?

I´ve been reading the manual, and in the section dedicated to the AEG envelope, it says that it modifies "the volume of the group". But if I create various groups inside a program, the AEG seems to be always the same for any of the groups. Am I missing something? Does the AEG work only on a program basis?

Please read more on the mapping group to sound params. Groups contain regions, which map samples. Groups are connected to "sound parameter" objects. You can create as many of the latter as you want, and connect each group to any of them. Thus a group can have its own, or share, any of the sound shaping parameters.
You can also override some of the sound parameters on a per-region basis.
