Hey,
I'm using Midi-Gen to auto-record samples of a connected VSTi (in this case, FM8 using a patch with a very quick transient attack sound)
I'm finding that all captured samples are not including the leading transient edge of the notes.
I'm not using volume threshold triggering.
I have to insert about 512smp of delay between FM8 and TX16Wx for it to work correctly (I'm using Melda MUtility for this).
Could this be a slight bug with Midi-Gen recording?

The VST recorder tries to estimate roundtrip latency based on VST block size. It is possible that your DAW does really conform to this.
I think a good solution would be to both present the estimated latency and allow both measured and user-input setting of it (try to find first transient in a test stream).
