I need a little help loading exs24 files. This sampler claims to be able to do it but I can't seem to get it right.

so:

What is the folder structure supposed to be like for this to work (i.e. where do the samples go in relation to the actual preset file)

What started me on this was Christian Henson from Spitfire is starting this thing called pianobook where he (and a community eventually) will release small piano sample libraries for free.

Anyways, he released the demo as an exs24 instrument and some nice fellow makes a kontakt instrument out of the samples. But I don't own either of those two. So I started making a tx16wx version which actually went fairly well considering I've never done that sorta thing before.

But alas, it would be super nice if I could just download the esx24 version from Christian and have it just work in tx16wx.

Any tips, anyone?

TX16Wx loads .exs files as programs directly. Just drag and drop (or double click or use file dialog or whatnot) to load it into a slot, and you should be good to go.

Right,

I've been able to actually load the program. I should have been more clear, what the actual problem is I'm getting a missing samples error. It seems to want to look for them in the exact location that they originated from (Christian's hard drive folder hierarchy in this case)
Pointing to the samples manually when I get the error doesnt seen to resolve anything.

Thanks for your reply, hoping to get this sorted :)

Yes, it does indeed help actually saying what the problem is.
Please send a copy of the file structure you are trying to import (exs + samples) and I'll look at it.

Here's a link to the files. Pretty cool stuff :)

Thank you for looking into it!

Ok, problem found. Yet another aspect of the undocumented EXS format that fortunately was not super hard to figure out. This will be fixed in next build.

But on another note I would like to suggest the original makers of this learn to use sample trimming. The bank contains "scratch noise" (piano) layer samples that are literally 60% silence. It does not even trim sample _starts_. We might have cheap memory and storage nowadays, but that is no excuse for sloppy waste. Even if you are like "oooh, I want ambient silence for my release", this still does not excuse lead-in that you don't even play. Gah.

Rant off now.

Thanks for looking into this. Much appreciated!

Sorry about the samples, its just an experimental set of samples for an eventual huge free library of pianos from around the world. Thats why it would be great to run in tx16wx because then people without Kontakt or Logic could use them. The gentleman that owns Spitfire Audio is the person putting it together and he wanted the end user to have control of the edit points as an experiment.

Did you offer your TX16WX patch to the official Pianobook library? Would be cool for other TX16WX users to have.
