Unzip the attachment and put the 4 files in your "Skins" folder. Here it is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\CWI Tec\TX16Wx\skins
<< tip from elcallio: "<UserAccount>\AppData\Local\TX16Wx\skins" >> (you may need to create the folder itself)

And a work in progress:

I cannot find the element to change that blue background for the selected items. Can someone point me at the right definition?

Hi, DarkStar
It looks good, thank you for sharing !

I am glad something is happening with the GUI, and i hope more themers will create some new skins at some point.

I wish we had some more options for the icons and header (the small icons are a bit tiny, and imho not the best part of tx16w, graphic-wise -while i like the colorscheme-).

Look for the selector ".item-pane .control-panel", which in vanilla uses the "darkslot.png" for background. (It is a dual state image, lower part is used when selected).

Always good to see some skinning being done. Looking good.

Got it.

For anyone-else: I copied darkslot.png and darkslot.kxml into the "large" folder and renamed them, to darkslot_orange.png and darkslot_orange.kxml. And changed the skin file to read:

Code: Select all

.item-pane .control-panel, .fx-view-top-panel menu, #nag-buttons, #nag-view, #auto-map-dialog pane {
    background: url(#large/darkslot_orange.png?2, 8, 6, 8, 6);
}
Then edited the .png file in the GIMP.
-----------------------------

Next one - how can I change the colour for the Program Icons?

1.) The kxml files should not be there. Its am installer build error (that will be rectified asap) that you got that included. Please delete. ;-) They will have no impact on the graphics anyway.
2.) The program icons are, for now, hard coded. Sorry, its a limitation, and I guess a rather annoying one at that. I will try to address this in a later version. Either as color variants or as parts of skin.

It's bigger and it's orange, I have selected the 1024 * 768 size too.
-- differently-sized buttons used in different places,
-- coloured volume and (rectangular) pan controls in the program slots panels
-- names are also shown in unselected groups
Next stop is making the top toolbar more distinct.

Installation:
-- download and unzip the attachment,
-- put the two files and the folder of images in <<tip from elcallio: your "<UserAccount>\AppData\Local\TX16Wx\skins" folder>> (you may need to create the folder itself)
-- it should now appear on the "UI Skin" list on the Settings page

Just one tip: Put custom skins in your <AppData>\TX16Wx\skins.

Yep - don't make the same mistake I did. I lost all my edited (sharpened) buttons for the Large skin :(

OK, I looked there but did not see any skins folder, so did not know that. I've now created a "skins" folder there and moved them.

A new skin and a revised one:

Installation:
-- download and unzip the attachment,
-- put the files and the folder of images in your "AppData\Local\TX16Wx\skins" folder (you may need to create the folder itself)
-- they should now appear in the "UI Skin" list on the Settings page.

Rename the previous orange_zest skin file if you want to keep it.
