What the Aparillo, not thinking it was anything new some obscure piece of kit of yesteryear so I checked out. Seems pretty new and interesting indeed. Another tool I must get?

Thanks for the heads up Simon...

Processing female speech (my mother's voice from an interview I did with her about her artwork) with a preset from the upcoming subscription set no. 26, tweaking things on the fly live on video.

I love processed or hinted at speech. It's one of those psychological baseball bats in music.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

Haha, yes indeed - as we are so familiar with speech as such, processing it makes the modifications most obvious and potentially fascinating.

I had posted a track earlier but recinded it as there was some issues with it. Now this track has taken a slightly different turn, using some of the set 21 patches with rythmic elements.I also tried to tune the other material to this 5/4 feel.

List of sounds and tools used:
Uvi Falcon playing 2 sounds from Falconscapes Vol. 2 vocalscapes Serpent Scape Split and Scattered Entity soundscape Evil Grains, these are crossfade with one another and playing a 3 part harmony.

iZotope Iris/TextureDots sent in parallel Kaleidoscope 1 set 21 Decays and Swells, and Kaleidoscope 2 set 21 Space Station 02,both get sent to FabFilter Pro C2's and then on to UHBIK Tremelo units also in parallel with two pattern gates set to 5/4 and 5/8 rythmic patterns.

iZotope Iris/Seoul Temple Monks sent in parallel to Kaleidoscope 3 set 21 Convoluted 5 03 and Kaleidoscope 4 set 21 Convoluted 5 02, I tried diffrent tunings and adjusted the root notes and speed. I'ved used a TDR Nova G for dynamic eq on both outputs for taming resonances.

UVI Falcon/Scattered Entity/Percussion/Singing Bowls Trio Split sent in parallel to Kaleidoscope 5 set 21 Tiled Drone and Kaleidoscope 6 set 21 Space Station 03 Dual

iZotope Iris/Spectrality Vocal Split sent in parallel to Kaleidoscope 7 set 21 Slow Sequence Trio Micro and Kaleidoscope 8 Good Circle 04 Synced.

I've carefully crossfaded between the 2 outputs of each Kaleidoscope set, and used some automation on the Dry and Wet signals in the Kaleidoscopes and used careful automation on the tremolo muting the effect as well as grabbing the last tremelo effected signal and sending it out to the UVI Relayer and a reverbical reverb with dry wet amount automation. There is a Limitless limiter on the master outputs, but otherwise no master reverb.

All midi notes are generated using Numerology Pro 4's midi AUs..

Climbing my way through the wealth of presets for the Kaleidoscope I'm working my way from set 25 back to set 19. Still learning but with each effort my understanding of how it all works is deepening. I'm also finding ways to get rythmic material to sync between different presets, as well as going more into depth with the various ways of tunings and waveform shaped responce signatures. Waveform based tunings seem to me to function similarily to a convolution reverb based on room impulses or speaker models..

I dare say the Kaleidoscope used carefully can become a tool to tailor make a sound enhancer for any kind of sound..

Next track using sounds from set 19, impuls provided by 2 instances of iZotope Iris, 1 instance of UVI Falcon and 1 Chromaphone 2. All playing Patchpools sounds. I used Tokyo Dawns Dynamic Eq on many of the tracks, As well as one instance of UVI relayer, Realtime Onlys Reverbical and Zynaptiqs Adaptiverb. Numerology Midi Generations AU in Logic Pro X

A Kaleidoscope preset from the upcoming subscription set no. 26 in action, using filter-sweeped pink noise as the audio input, some spatial movement is added with GRM Tools SpaceFilter, Breeze 2 provides the reverb.

Minimal groove track > two presets from the upcoming subscription set no. 26 in action, automating root notes/bus sends in Logic X and some high cut EQ on the bass sequencer. Input sources are industrial noise (field recording) and a sweeping noise texture. UVI Relayer and Soundtoys FX Rack provide tempo-synced delays, Breeze 2 a bit of room.

Here come the release notes for set 26:
Greeting the new year with a set of fresh Kaleidoscope patches seemed like a good idea to me. You will find abstract fractal and textural images as well as tempo-synced sequences, also exploring experiments with rhythms playing in- and out of phase. Tuning files experimenting with unusual overtone series and waveforms made with various FM synths. The sounds reach from tonal beauties with delicate textural movement to tones reminding of glass to deep drones to abstract futuristic sound sculptures to edgy and minimalistic sequences.

Happy New Year!
Kaleidoscope subscription set no. 26 released on January 1st 2018 containing:
  • *78 Presets
    *32 Images
    *7 tuning files
    *7 waveforms
The subscription library currently holds: 1774 presets - 915 images - 137 tuning files - 160 waveforms - 26 input samples.
