So today's 6-hour sampling session started with this incredible Water Pan, the water inside the pan creates fantastic modulations when you slightly move the pan while playing, I recorded a ton of groovy loops - also in odd signatures (7/8 - 6/8 - 5/8) - with it and also deeply multisampled it:

Then it was these Nepalese crotales which have a beautiful and pure tone:

and then these two Dorje bells from Nepal followed by the little ching chop finger cymbals, also recording some great loops with the latter:

Now my ears need a serious break...

Whooa, this looks like there some seriously interesting sounds coming done the line soon...

Are these going to be a set for Halion 5 or ...?
waves break, but somehow it all makes sense.

I'll use these for all sorts of things, HALion being one of them. I'm just building another huge sample pool for us to swim in.

Great!

And last but not least, here are some pics from an inconspicuous looking thing named "Monsoon" which is the most incredible rainmaker I have heard in my life, only the one that got stolen from me after a gig years ago was even more spectacular, but this one here produces a very long and silky rain with distinct "water drops" and can be used as well for some great shaker-like loops and grooves:

...and a chime-thing named Waterfall, which produces very loud and percussive wooden, bamboo-like textures although it's made totally from plastic:

Have you ever considered doing an Ableton Live pack? There isnt a lot of sampled instruments and some are quite old.

Not really, as I don't use Ableton Live, as it never clicked with me. I worked with it once during a musical theatre production and found it cumbersome to use due to it's clip-based/loop-based architecture.

Today I started recording/sampling a family of 18 Angkelungs (spread over 2.5 octaves), a chromatic percussion instrument from Indonesia. Here is a first test using a single tremolo sample in HALion 5's granular engine.

Today it was more Angkelung sampling, then a very heavy train warning bell from the 19th century which has a handle you have to move to ring this incredible bell and then a 22" ocean drum, treating and beating it with all sorts of things, shaking it, creating oceanic waves of all kinds, also rubbing it with rubber mallets, which produces the most incredible, sub-bass moaning sounds.

Today was Darabuka time, a great, very loud drum, her body made from copper - followed by a recording session with 4 break drums, perfectly tuned (diatonic) break discs.

Some of the above will most definitely appear in MachFive. Also coming soon I will offer single instruments and smaller libraries for M5, similar in price range to my offerings for Kontakt.
