yeah theyre named in the title, but i just wasn't sure how recently the latest had been added.jancivil wrote:I think all [4?] what's in that thread are in the thread title.vurt wrote:ill have to check it out.jancivil wrote:Nuages 3 is somewhat new, not brand new.vurt wrote:is that a new one? i know ive heard some nuages, but not a more recent one.jancivil wrote: 7 more by the problem child today so I'm gwyne bump Nuages 3 some more again.
as for bumping, as you said, it inspired you to bump your satie piece, which for one reason or another id missed previous. so it seems positive more productive methods of dealing with the issue at hand, worked in many ways.
If this keeps up there may be a veritable festival of my work coming...
i sometimes miss additions, maybe frantz has a suggestion how we could identify threads with pieces added later?
you need to date and time any updates you make to a thread. rule 4 clause b:714

I don't know why but I think I'm starting to repect the amount of work you're putting into this. I don't agree with it but I believe you're trying to make the Music Cafe better for everyone. Only I don't think it was broken in the first place.Frantz wrote:Perhaps a less restrictive set of guidelines than the ones I originally proposed would work. The following are copied directly from another forum. Would some of these work here in the Music Cafe?
Rules for Posting a Song:
1) Please critique 2 or more songs for every song you post.
2) Please post only one song per day.
3) If your song is adult-themed ( i.e. contains overt sexuality or obscene, offensive language, etc.) please tag it or mark it clearly as such.
4) Please indicate the intended genre below the title of your song, and also what kind of a critique you're after. Is this a song that you'll be promoting commercially? Is it a song you wrote simply because you wanted to and you'd like to make it better? The more info people have, the better they'll be able to give you the kind of feedback you're after. And please PLEASE note - if you're not really after critique at all, don't post here. The Artist's Cafe is happy to hear your completed songs. This is the place to post if you want honest feedback and are prepared to take what is given (what you do with it, is of course, up to you).
5) Please post the lyrics along with the clickable link to your song's music.
6) Only post songs you have written or have permission to post. Please don't post cover songs.
7) It is polite to acknowledge critiques, but please don’t overdo it by “bumping” your thread to the top too frequently.
8 ) If you revise the song, please give a date and post on the same thread, or folks will unknowingly still comment on the old one.
9) Please be sure to visit other areas of the board to both learn and spread your knowledge.
Rules for Critiquing a Song:
1) The purpose of this forum is to promote better song writing by providing encouragement and constructive feedback focused on improvement. Strive to be courteous and respectful in your critiques, keeping in mind that we all come to this forum with different perspectives, genre preferences and levels of experience.
2) Offer constructive criticism and suggestions you think may help the writer make the most of his or her vision of where they want to go with their song.
3) If you think something really works, say so. Make an attempt to say why you think it does. If you see areas you think could be improved, explain why you believe they need improvement and offer suggestions, if you have any.
Anonymity often helps us forget that there is a person at the other end of our critique. Imagine, if you can, that you are speaking to the writer face to face.
Just be fair and genuine. That's all you need as a guide. If anyone really needs to be told such things.

I tried to put this to the users, I dont think it's much to ask to stay on topic as this request for this thread was done out of respect for all of you. But no, not KvR
Anyhow not agreeing or disagreeing with any of the on topic points in this thread because that's not what it's about but let's try again and after I cook my dinner I am going to deal with the off topic posts and blatant attempts to derail the positive efforts made here.

Please relax. If you're going to get shirty about respect you may want to check yourself with this accusatory jazz.

I'm not gonna. I'm not sure who wants a 'critique'. I actually don't, for the most part. It's for Entertainment Value Only. Now, original Nuages I said I'd done something dodgy here which spurred a more critical attitude and that fit.Rules for Posting a Song:
1) Please critique 2 or more songs for every song you post.
There is a preconception among some that the point of posting is critique this effort. I don't know that.
Why? Because Silke F abuses it? I'm a very active participant in this forum, for instance.Frantz wrote: 2) Please post only one song per day.

I did not know that. I might want to hear some critiques, if so it's implied or made obvious but I'm not here to learn how to compose by comments in comment boxes. Some are, but by the same token I'm not here as an instructor of that at all.Frantz wrote: Rules for Critiquing a Song:

Maybe you simply want to say 'be respectful'? I respect your effort here but this is what we call doing too much over here.

I'm done with all of it, anyhow. Not gonna waste a second more of my life on this wannabe-enigmatic fool. Might still like to contribute to the on-topic nature of the thread, as it was originally put to us

Thanks, I am trying to have a discussion about how things might be better. The Silke takeover of the Music Cafe is an indication to me that things are broken. The mods currently have no guidelines for dealing with it. The most recent set of rules were copied and pasted from another forum to see if they might be applicable here.Unaspected wrote: I don't know why but I think I'm starting to repect the amount of work you're putting into this. look one more time, I dont need your permission or validation to do my job. You constantly do this, derail threads to make it about my modding. This is not about me. You are one who is trying to derail this thread. No more zappa vids, you have two places to post those and the others along with a lot of posts will be gone when I finish my dinner.jancivil wrote:"blatant attempts to derail the positive efforts"

To be clear, I copied all of that text from another forum. I did not write the second set of rules. The point was to see if we could borrow or adapt some of those ideas for this place.jancivil wrote: Maybe you simply want to say 'be respectful'? @Hink: I don't see any positive efforts being made here at all, in fact quite the opposite, the oppressive rules suggested are absurdly negative.
One has to look for the motive behind such recommendation, and sadly it seems the driving force is a bit of green eyed monster mixed together with a splash of totally over invested nimbyism.
The music cafe doesn't need new rules, though If you, as a mod, think one poster is out of order with their postings, then as is right and proper, pm them and tell them to pull there heads in. That'd probably work best, and all without opening what is after all a vehicle for sharing creativity, to the whims of those clearly holding personal grievances.
I hope you, as a mod, do absolutely nothing in this instance except lock the thread and advise us to grow up or stock up on tissues.
