Navigating KVR using iPhone

Can be a bit tricky. In particular there's no way to mouse over stuff and since my first port of call is "my recent posts" which relies on a mouse over drop down, it's frustrating at times. It would help if to access all that stuff was initiated by a normal click on username instead of that taking you to private messages which is what I keep ending up at by mistake

We need someone clever to write a KVR iPhone app, that provides a 'latest posts' feed and easy formatting of each message for simple reading - maybe with an in-built viewer for linked images - based on a logged-in user.
(Yes, I know there's RSS - I meant something a bit more specific and functional)
I'd buy that for a pound.

A bug to report here: The frames on the right like latest posts, music, additions, sometimes overlap into the forum frame. It doesn't happen all the time, but I haven't discerned what causes it. It prevents reading anything on the right side of the forum frame.

Go to Webhostingtalk.com on your iPhone and if that's easier to do with VBulletin than phpBB (aside from the many other benefits of VBulletin but I won't bother any more...) I'll donate some for the VBulletin license and rally to get more to do so. It is exactly how I'd expect an active forum (especially corporate-sponsored) to work on mobile platforms.

Not yet. The version currently available in the store is not compatible with this forum (unless the admin wants to make a very simple change?)aMUSEd wrote:Wonder if KvR would work with one of these:

The version we are working on will be compatible when it is released. There is no ETA set at this point.

Awesome - can't wait for the next version then.
ps does it work with this one?

You should pm Ben about that "simple change"
(I guess if the vote comes in for KvR to support iPhone music app news then there will be more incentive to address this)

Looks like it does.aMUSEd wrote:ps does it work with this one?

A note: If you use that URL, you will only have access to the non-english speaking forums. If you, instead, point to the main index (http://forum.cockos.com/ (http://forum.cockos.com/)) it looks like you have access to everything else. We are working to make subforums a little more seamless, but the current release version does not support them directly.
Hope this helps.

What I do for this is click on it, but then stop it from loading.aMUSEd wrote:In particular there's no way to mouse over stuff and since my first port of call is "my recent posts" which relies on a mouse over drop down, it's frustrating at times.
Browsing KVR when stopped at a red light is always nice.

Thanks - I think what would really help me decide is if you, and the other people making these forum apps, had demo or lite versions as I really need to test them all before buyingforumsapp wrote:Looks like it does.

Forums Lite was available for a while. It received very few downloads compared to the paid version, believe it or not. Ultimately we decided it wasn't worth the effort to maintain both versions. I agree with you that it would be nice if Apple made it easier to make purchasing decisions on the App Store, unfortunately, as a developer, our hands our tied.aMUSEd wrote:I think what would really help me decide is if you, and the other people making these forum apps, had demo or lite versions as I really need to test them all before buying
