There are many things that KVR isn't but in particular the following aren't welcome:

KVR isn't a place for obtaining or discussing warez, cracks, porn, politics, etc.

Flames/Stupid arguments.

Elite-ness/Egos/One-upmanship/Penis comparison/Parent fights/etc.

Format wars (Please…)/Host wars (Come on, try now…)/Platform wars (Leave it Darren, it's not worth it…).

KVR isn't a free for all democracy where you can say what you like about who you like, respect one another and they will respect you.

Enjoy your stay :)
HOW MANY TIMES DOES THIS NEED TO BE QUOTED BEFORE MEMBERS CAN ACCEPT THE FEW SIMPLE RULES TO RUNNING THE FORUM SMOOTHLY??

So one can philosophically discuss issues concerning & associated with warez?
For instance copy protection schemes, why people may use warez etc. as long as one is not giving info. about, brag about using (currently? - as opposed to admitting having used it in the past?).
The rules there seem fairly specific.
Of course the chances of a thread discussing warez related issues in a rational & thoughtful way actually staying rational & thoughtful would likely be fairly slim.
There have been some interesting discussions regarding copyright etc. also.

absolutely

there have been a couple of those threads in recent months that were allowed to stay open - IIRC one got 'dirty' and was locked with a request to open a new civil one - which was exactly what happened i think

I've been on message boards for 20 years and have pretty much seen it all. The forum rule noted by you clearly does not say anything about discussion. It quite reasonably specifically notes the content that is not going to be allowed. No problem. But this in no way, either implied or expressly stated, prohibits discussion of these topics.

So, when another mod states "the rules say quite blatently that KVR is NOT a place to DISCUSS warez" it's obvious he is trying to enforce a non-existent ban. If he thinks that my pointing this out represents stirring up shit, he doesn't know what that can really mean.

Moderators need the respect of those who participate on KVR. They can earn it or they can lose it. It's not up to us to give it to them if they don't earn it.

you read muffs last post ?

members need to act in an appropriate manner if THEY want to be treated appropriately by the mods and each other

besides

we are not (yet) modbots - the rules and guidelines are there to be interpreted by each of us individually in the context of each distinct moderation decision

as your sig notes - theres no black and white - those who cant understand or cope with all the greyness should go play somewhere easier and cosier to deal with

Many Speaks....

First I want to say that I am one of the original moderators on KVR along with Ben and Kevvvvv.
Not only that, but as Kevvvvv is, I am one amongst the longest contributing "members" to this site. (member #41)

I just wanted to add to the topic my 2 cents.

There are reasons threads get deleted. Lately there have been a few members who continually seem to cause issues and occasional threads just degenerate into trash and crap.
We don't get paid to babysit "some" of you guys, in fact we all do this because we love this community and want to see a great place. Crap threads where people go absolutely ballistic and drag the thread down do not make KVR a great place. Maybe for a few of you it does, but for the majority of KVR users they want to come and read some good material without the crap.

We have users thanking us regularly for weeding out the crap.

Regardless, I fully support Muff Wiggler for pointing out some things to a few of you. I think Ben would also agree that there are times when we ain't going sit for hours and watch a pile of crap go on and on.

I want to enjoy this place and not spend my entire time here watching who is calling who a c**t for 4 pages and 6 threads.

Ben has even said in the past that we don't have time to sit and edit every post that needs editing when we see that crap has gone on for pages.... In that case the Delete Button is ours to use when we wish to do so. BUT.. I never use this to hide any information about anything whatsoever, But i won't hesitate to use it when I'm tired of the crap and the thread warrants deletion.

It is kind of sad to see the way some are behaving around here lately and no doubt those few guys are going to stir us mods up a bit with that kind of behavior.

Now my comments in this post are in no way directed at any of you in particular. In fact most of you all have had great posts and input into the community. That is all we ask. We have moderated this place just fine for 6 years and helped make it the great place it is.... It is funny though as KVR is one of the least moderated BIG Audio forums on the net. In fact i have seen posts on other forums where people say KVR is a big fighting playground lately and all that goes on here is people calling each other c**ts. That is not how I want to see KVR.

You know what, if you think this is so important, don't have it in some obscure corner of the site where no one sees it but you can trot it out as if it's the ten commandments. As for the first so-called rule, if it isn't allowed, then no threads about these topics should be allowed. Otherwise, lighten up and give it a rest, because the other "rule" posted by another mod is in direct conflict when it comes to "discussion."

I'm done with this...the moderators will do whatever they want anyway.

I'm all for greyness, which is what I'm fighting for. Life is grey. Now I really am done with this thread. :)

Jesus. Some people are getting too worked up over threads getting deleted - threads who's only purpose it seems were to complain about a product not being good value for money.

I've already pm'd Ben about all this, but I'll say it publicly too: thanks, mods, for doing your best to keep a good signal-to-noise ratio on KVR. It is appreciated, and I hope your method of moderation continues. It is spelled out, as clearly one can, in the FAQ and rules, and people should just get used to it.
