A smallish DIY project, but one that I was very pleased with - it started life as a Buddha Machine II before it got circuit-bent, modified to allow external audio to be processed through it and then finally given a polished wood and brass Steampunk makeover:
I've posted some audio examples on my web site of the circuit-bending and external audio destruction possibilities if you're interested!

That last thing I love very much.
It looks like a sound designers morning clock, I bet it punches hell of a alarm sound.
(Each night you gotta dial in your custom sound to wake up next morning, right?)

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

The needlessly need eurocrack-case, and monitor stands.
The deep case is good though for using as an extra table or piling other deep rack units with :)

How easy was it to build?
Does it sound any good?
Is it useful and productive to use as an instrument?I had soldered cables and once I built a laser harp(!) but that was over twenty years ago (with a lot of help by my teacher). The instructions are very clear for the digital board and with the knowledge you gain from that it's pretty easy to build the analog board as well. Just be careful to turn components like transistors and caps right. I also used a cheap multimeter so I could measure all resistors as I had difficulties to see the color codes. I only needed help once because the bridge between the digital and the analog board had been changed.Hink wrote:I will be interested as to KungKrille has to say about the sound, surely this will go on my list of future pontential builds
It does sound good but note that it's monophonic. It's easy to program and you can control it live either with the four knobs or midi. I have a few demos below. The first two are from a free multilayered sample collection I did for Alchemy that doesn't seem to be released. I don't have time or energy to create Alchemy presets with remix settings and all. I have loaded the samples into several instances of Alchemy and used the built-in effects. The drums in demo 2 are samples from Shruthi:
Demo 1
Demo 2
These are pure Shruthi-1 recordings of presets I have done myself and there are no effects applied. Some of the presets are included on newer kits I think:
Shruthi-1 patches
I have used Shruthi-1 on the latest of my productions that I already posted here at KVR (listen to the bass):
