After reading your post, I thought it would be cool to get a C64 and a couple of games. I had a look at Ebay and came to the conclusions that they are cheaper here than in Sweden. So...after buying a shitload of C64 stuff (4 consoles, 7 joysticks, 2 diskdrives & hundreds of original games + a light gun) I had a go at Sanxion (classic shoot'em up). The engine sound in Sanxion is a basically a PWM-osc with a lowpass filter and as the speed increases, the cutoff freq is raised. It sounds...brutal! Therefore, I decided to build a Midibox as well and I've just ordered a the kits necessary from SmashTV.

I think I'm going to build something similar to yours (I'll try at least) but I'll leave some of the LEDs out for now. I do want a cutoff freq knob though, and a display.
