You didn't answer the question you quoted, though :)

I test the stratus 3 free and i see not how i can use drop d. I think the sound of strat free is good and that it is possible to lock strings with keyswitch is a good feature i miss on other

But your guitars sound not good on long notes when use distortion.(much diffrence in quality depend on the sample number in the round robin list) . try your preset Brit Power lead. a little bit help to lower the tone control to 1. but then it sound not so good. I think you need sample the guitar when use much distortion (only for monitor and record clean of course) and keep only this samples that sound good. sure a strat sound not so clean, but in this video can hear on humbucker that your guitar have this problem too, and you can compare with other https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpjHxBsLc-8 here at 5 min 45 sec you can hear. play vibrato do also not help.

I'm having a hard time hearing what you mean about certain samples 'not sounding good'... that being said the next guitar we're doing is an 8-string w/ ultraclean Fishman Fluence pickups that I guarantee sounds ridiculously clear.

or maybe it is a problem in kontakt engine. please hear the example. this example is normaly good for time stretch guitar, because it begin with a -2 and bend then to real note. so it need not transpose. when use slight vibrato with modulation wheel, sound very bad and not as real guitar. when use no vibrato it sound cleaner, but without vibrato guitar play sound worse in general.

this is with AME the example. in AME the pitch wheel is move too when the controllers are send. in shreddage and kontakt 6 the bend wheel is always in middle show. but thats only a small display problem

S3 Stratus Free does contain actual sampled vibrato, which is selected by default (go to Articulations tab, in Vibrato section you should see Fingered selected for vibrato mode). So when you do that modwheel vibrato in your example, that is an actual guitar player doing vibrato on those frets, that's how it sounds! It's a real guitar vibrato :)

I find in youtube a example with the british marshall sound on a strat on Neck pickup. so all is very simular to stratus free(have only Neck pickup). how a real strat sound with vibrato on long notes can hear on videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6q7fbhypPI maybe the reason when shreddage use real vibrato samples that this samples are not monitored with distortion and only clean.

or maybe the sound of a fret when bend 2 notes up is diffrent and this is the problem. then a solution is when trigger a note and pitchbend is -2 tones current on note on, the script can notice that it need use the bend 2 tones up sample. or maybe increase on all higher strings the tense so when play for example c fret it is d and record as d record all guitar tones 2 notes higher and the strings have more tense. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynSc2oYemsE

You could always use the emulated vibrato mode if the samples aren’t doing it for you in some circumstances.

I try emulate vibrato. it is little better but even with vibrato on modwheel set to 0 mostly the tone is not clean. hear in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6Ft2cmW9vM It play several times the same notes at same velocity so you can hear the diffrence due to round robin samples. there is only 1 sample that sound good on this note. other samples sound more or less unclean. maybe to reach good tones it is important that the record is monitor with a distortion as brit Power lead, so the player who record the samples hear that he pick the tone not good and do again. without distortion it is not hear good if another string ring too during pick or the fret finger press the string not good

Recordings WERE monitored with distortion, as far as I know. At the very least, all the samples were monitored through distortion post-recording.

Post

if record monitoring with distortion, then this bad sounds maybe happen because of denoise or noise gate. is this possible ?. maybe samples without denoise and in kontakt a denoise effekt or noise gate for those who think denoise is better, is better solution ?.

I always use on my real strat(its a cheap cherry strat and i have in bridge pickup a di marzio humbucker in single coil format. neck and mid are built in single coil) no denoise and no noisegate, because it produce bad sounding hear with distortion. If i really hear noise(during 2 sec sustain), i reduce distortion or compressor threshhold. play guitar near a computer device is tricky. on my strat i get much less noise, when i sit in a specific angle before my computer. this happen with bumbucker in single coil format too

Noise gate was not used while recording. Denoising was done extremely carefully in order not to damage the releases of notes.
