yellukhan wrote: Mon Mar 25, 2019 2:37 pm may i ask/out of curiosity,
would you mind to share even just the RC Project screen capture of this beauty?
wondering the Generators and Phrases you used.
I initially didn't want to, then I thought of some screenshots, but then I remembered all the great videos you've put, how you shared your discoveries and exploration and how happy it made me to see you and other people using RC so in the end I made a video response showing some of how I use RC.

I'ts nothing great, I know, I still have a lot to learn form you guys, but trying to do my best.
Big thanks to you, to everybody who's put out videos and of course huuuuuge thanks to Atilla for this aaaamazing software! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Post

first a side note:
actually its my bad i delete the "you can say no, i wouldn't offense in any way" part in the last sec. from my post.
but i glad i did :hihi:

Oh my God 40 minutes with crystal clear explanations!
This is way more detailed than i ask even i didn't expect half of that details!

everything aside (for example first time seeing the Dyad Runs in a project : ) )
just seeing how you use RC
(actually every software because i am kind a watch and learn type )
makes me feel fresh and loads full of motivation!
and for all this just a project image capture was enough but you did 40 mins video!

Thank you so much!

a few notes:

--Expression Variation only affects the note velocities does offsets up/down all Velocities..
i suggest add Midi CCs ..
Expression, Mod Wheel, Volume to your tracks (depends on the instrument in use of course)
Midi CC tab its the Sliders icon top of the Track Inspector
and you can activate to see them in the track panel as like the Variation sliders

--i think we should ask for a mark/sign/color to see quickly if the phrase has variation inside :)
...
let me say once again
me Thank you really so much all your time and share!

ps: nickname pronounce was perfect ! :D
i am gonna watch my gift again!

my newest lame cweation http://jamen.do/t/1637769
@yellukhan: very happy you liked the video. I know I should be using more midi CCs but it just takes so much extra time I keep skipping it... hoping with time RC will ease this and generate based on the notes of the track, until then i'm likely to stay lazy about this in the interest of making more songs

Post

ah ok
i thought you were using Expression Variation as a replacement of the CC Expression .. my bad!
..
nice work :tu:

OMG I am so behind reading and replying forum posts - I am doing more work recently.
"Tinyn3ss INC" is very nice and unique, I love it, iXaarii!
I'll make sure I'll watch your video, I am always interested in how people work with RC, and fascinated at the same time. :)

Thanks!

thank you very much Atilla! I'm humbled and happy at your words. And of course i can't wait to get my hands on that work you did :D
I know that "Tinyn3ss INC" is a bit "weird/experimental" in sound, with all them echoes and reverbs and such, but somehow to my mind it contributed to the beat and though that's not what i wanted to make i found it too addictive not to make it and even now I find it's somehow hard to stop listening to it after just one time. My brain is weird like that... musical self-hypnosis, i guess.

Btw, this is my latest track, hope somebody likes it: http://jamen.do/t/1639147
I caved to temptation and bought myself another piano instrument and this is now it's test song (with just a short chording touch of the first).

In case you're curious this song is also sort of an experiment, milestone and memory for me: it is based upon & is meant as a kind of tribute to a song I composed more than two years ago with my then Band in a Box centric workflow: https://soundcloud.com/ixaarii/bird-flight-no-3
I think i've learned a lot since then, I hope you can tell and it's better and i haven't stagnated or even worse regressed in my music composition. I'm much happier with my RC workflow feeling I have much more control and I hope i've grown also musically (although it's debatable to the extent to which i changed the progression).
Both songs have an attempt at orchestration and adding more instruments of which the new version sounds to me much better, and thanks to RCs rhythm control (thanks HiEnergy & Yellukhan for reminding me of it) i think this time i did a much better job of accounting for the swinged rhythm.

In terms of instruments i think i also did better in soundquality (which is a bit ironic given that Biab has real players recorded, though maybe that's exactly it with the noise in the recording equipment and the limitations of a real piano vs a high end one). An area where I have a question mark is in mastering: I think i've also learned a lot in terms of mastering, however maybe I have become too pretentious with this one as I've tried to leave it high dynamic range (if i'm using the term right) as in i didn't compress it that much, so as to leave the sound as pure as possible, with it hanging out mostly at -6 and only climbing reluctantly to the >-3db area... this I thought made the experience listening nice on a good set of speakers BUT with high volume, but the old song however sounds decent on a low volume also and always sounds "loud" and in that it's always clear while the new one I felt loses quite a bit if the volume isn't high enough.
Maybe a learning lesson there? I'll have to think about it more in the future.

Anyway, I'm curious if you listen to the old one how you find the new one vs the old one, if you find them to be "the same", either in content or in quality or different and if so in what directions. I like to hope I'm doing things better today but maybe I have to be more careful and/or I don't always hit it so well with the chord progression.

Curiously awaiting comparative feedback should you be willing to give it, and even if not I thought you might find it entertaining to know about it's 2 year old sibling.

and .. finally i found!
this was the first-old one in the top of the list:

i would pick this instead of "3" BBX version
one and only thing adding a little reverb to the piano (and maybe a little to strings too) would bake them tastier i think :)

thanks so much for your feedback! I'll bump up that song then in my featured playlist. Thanks a lot for telling me.
Also thanks a lot for the reverb suggestion, i'll pay more attention to that!
And as always thanks so much for your videos !
