Hello everybody!

I'm planning to buy a hifi player and pretend to use the device in two ways:

1- Mainly as standalone music player

2- Also, as portable audio interface (DAC) connected to a PC. But it's imperative for me to achieve a low latency as I want to play a MIDI keyboard also connected to the PC. I have some doubts about this issue, and haven´t found almost any information about this kind of use. Only got this:

http://fiio.me/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=40777 (http://fiio.me/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=40777)

Although Fiio provides ASIO drivers for X3II, 30 ms is unnaceptable for what I want. 10 ms would be perfect. I see that iBasso DX80 runs Thesycon "low latency" ASIO driver, but any information about achieved latency in ms.

I'm not sure if it's possible to do what I want and play MIDI keyboard comfortably without delayed sound. If it would (although I know kvr is not a site for hifi issues), which hifi player could do the job?

Thanks

I have a standard 50ms here and it's very fast. I think the problem is your MIDI interface, maybe try USB?

Read the OP's thread on FIIO and you'll see you've not understood.

50ms is unacceptable latency, really.

Right :-)

If you want low midi latency you'll need an audio interface with ASIO drivers.

Read the OP's post.

We did read the OP. He wants something unrealistical from a glorified mp3 player.
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. Image
My MusicCalc is served over https!!

Just saying "Use ASIO" when the OP has said they've tried ASIO doesn't look like reading the OP...

Up until your post, someone's said "50ms is reasonable" - which isn't correct for the purpose the OP wants - and "Use ASIO" - which the OP had clearly said they'd done. Saying "you need a better sound card" is useful, though.

Well, that's the point maybe. I know that some hifi players can perform as audio interface and, in some devices, manufacturers provides "low latency" ASIO drivers (like Thesycon). Maybe not low enough for playing MIDI keyboard...
