Hi all
I'm trying to record audio into FL Studio but not sure what I'm missing. I have my audio interface (firestudio mobile) connected to my PC via firewire (I have a firewire card in my PC). When I play a video on youtube I can see the audio is coming in to the interface mixer on channels DAW1 and DAW2 as shown below.

I do not have any connections to the line inputs on the back of the audio interface.
Can I record the audio that is coming into my interface mixer into my DAW via the firewire connection, or would I need to have seperate cables from the PC to the line inputs on the back of the interface ? The only ports on the back of my PC are the 3.5mm coloured ports for mic,in,out on the motherboard, and I have balanced jack line in on the interface (3/4, 5/6, 7/8).
Thanks in advance for any help!
Paul

You are way overthinking this. Your audio interface is for playing audio from your PC, or recording audio from external sources.
You are seeing the audio output channels on your interface, exactly as you should, since you are playing audio on Youtube. Those are output channels, not input channels.
If you are looking to record audio that originates from another application, your audio interface has nothing to do with it. You should be looking for some solution that can record PC audio to disk or turn it into a virtual input source. On a Mac, this is pretty easy to do with 3rd party software from Rogue Amoeba.
On Windows there are various options. Total Recorder is well regarded for this purpose: http://www.highcriteria.com/
There is also this, which creates a new audio interface where anything sent to it as an output device can be recorded as an input device in your DAW: https://www.vb-audio.com/Cable/
In any case, don't try to loop the audio in your interface. Not only will you create a feedback loop (depending on your monitoring setup), but you will be doing Digital-Analog-Digital conversion and adding needless noise to your recordings.
