AirDrop Issues - Sierra and iOS 12 - Does it Work for You?

I'm currently on iOS 11 and macOS Sierra and AirDrop is working fine.

I would like to update to iOS 12 for iPad, but will that mess up AirDrop to/from Sierra?

I have had huge problems in the past with AirDrop, which only resolved when I updated both computer and mobile OS to the latest on both. I'd like to stay with Sierra as all my software/hardware works and the system is stable.

On a side note, is AirDrop reliable between iOS devices that have v11 and v12?

I found Airdrop always unreliable. Sometimes it works, sometimes not...
