Thinking about a short-term solution for current laptop -- Toshiba Satellite S55t-A5389, replacing the SATA-300 drive, with the Evo. I gig quite a bit using GigPerformer -- and on occasion had to restart GP and load the whole show (75+ rackspaces) -- hoping the Evo would speed up this process.
When cloning to the Evo, this shouldn't affect any software authorizations (Omnisphere, Komplete 12, etc.) on the existing hdd, right?
Just wanted to be sure before I continue researching!

It could. Some software authorisations are based on a 'machine ID' and the creation of that could be based on the drive's ID.
Other authorisation systems (eg soft iLok, and Waves) are hard drive based and they may not work with imaging.
my other modular synth is a bugbrand

Done this process several times, some plugins work normally, few aren't like:
1. VPS Avenger
2. ilok stff
3. Focusrite, Novation.
need to reactivate or to contact devs to renew licenses.
