My old computer broke, now I am triple-booting a MacBook Pro so I can make plugins for everything... There will be Mac versions of most of my stuff pretty soon but first is a simple plugin that tries to figure out what chord you're playing. Windows and Mac VST/AU for download here:

cool, nice to have this as a dedicated plugin.

good for the mac guys. theres a lot of insert piz plugins that are must haves for me using windsynth.

when i was searching for various things i needed in my live setup i kept being directed to insert piz here over and over.

so if id been on a mac id be screwed thus far. i use the midipcgui and pbcurve and cccurve and midiconverter3 and midichords the most. ive gotten a lot of applause that should be shared with you because of those, especially pbcurve and midichords they really changed my sound for the better.

youre the king of midi vst plugins!

Thanks! Considering that midiChords and midiPBCurve came directly from your suggestions, I'm very glad to hear that you're getting some use out of them.

Hey Piz, can you help me?
I just work on an auto-accompaniment system inside a modular host that exhibits the same behavior as a Yamaha Arranger Keyboard in "Fingered" mode.
The only problem I have is: I cannot prevent bass lines of using only the notes of the chords pressed with the left hand, what is not always sounding good. I'd need another midi-plug-in to solve that.

As I saw your midi chord analyzer plug-in above, I got the following idea:

Let's say you have the bass line of "Axel F" by Harold Faltermeyer and fit it into the C major scale. What would you need to change it into another scale using a left hand chord on your keyboard?
1.: you'd need to analyze the pressed chord's root and if it's major or minor, and
2.: you'd need to trim a "force-to-key"-scale into the corresponding major or minor scale analyzed, while transposing the incoming bass notes to the root note of the chord pressed on the keyboard relatively to the note "C".

The input midi notes on one channel must be transposed by the difference between note "C" and the input chord on the other channel of the plug in, if you will.
Therefor you'd probably need a chord table with all major and minor chords available that the program could compare to the incoming left-hand-chords. Additionally pressed notes like 7th or 9th can switch on the corresponding notes of the "force-to-key"-section.

Theoretically easy, but I'm not a programmer, so I'm asking you:
Could you add this "fingered"-functionality to the chord analyzer plug-in? That would be extremely nice!

Hey I love this, but I have some requests if you please.

Allow a toggle that will only play the recognized chords, thereby disabling 'thru' midi notes.
- this would be cool in one case, if you play a few notes in the chord, the entire chord will be automatically played (the recognized chord).

Additionally you could add another filter to select different key signature. I'm not sure if anything else does this, but it could be neat.

cheers

mididchords for the 3rd guitar part, pettinhouse free dguitar thru guitar rig marshall

midichords for the nylon string guitar , again free pettinhouse, and harmonizng the wivi horn section

midichords for all the arturia prophet 5 synth and passion flute

midichords for the albino synth sounds including the big chords, soft filtered big chords, laser lead sound (using midichords to map the notes to an easier fingering, and all the other weird synth sounds

again mapping to the prophet 5, on the lead solo sounds in the middle im again mapping to easier fingerings, lazy bastard i am.

and thats just a few of many, not even the best ones. i use quite a few instances of midichorder, at least 20, and pbcurve, probably 6 to 8, on every show now and i do love them.

there was this too where the orchestra is all midichords:

Hey InsertPizHere

Could I make a request for this awesome plugin

- could the Copy function recognize the last played chord?

This is great for if your Keyboard is not near your computer desk, or, if you require two hands to play the keyboard controller..

Currently it doesn't seem to operate in this manner, it seems to only 'Copy' a chord if your holding it down when you press Copy.

thanks!!!

Hi,

First I'd like to thank Piz for all these wonderful MIDI plugins.

I'm searching for a plugin exactly like this. But I need an output for every kind of chord. In other words, a chord to note (let's say root note) plugin. Of course, I'd need another output to know what chord is.

I'd use this for some VSTi's (sampled guitars mainly) I use which have sampled chords and they're triggered by single notes (along with another keyswitch/articulation note). It's great having sampled chords for realism, but if you want to use a MIDI file requires a lot of MIDI editing.

Can this be achieved already with some comnination of Piz plugins or it'd imply adding a feture to this analyzer?

Thanks,

Xupito
Sorry for my English. I'm working on it.
