That plugin is free right now :wink:
^ I (really) know that! :P anyway, thanks for mentioning.

I love that reverb, sounds really pleasant... but if I could get fairly close in VVV, I would gladly skip the whole iLOK thing!

The VVV reverb has a distinctly different feel to it then the Eventide 2016 reverb — which is why people who want the 2016 Stereo Room sound should probably get the 2016 reverb while it’s still free!

That said, while VVV has a louder tail and softer early refelections, and while VVV’s tail has a thicker sound to it, and while the VVV early reflections are a little looser and more fluttery then the 2016’s early refelections, here is a reasonable approximation of the default settings for the 2016 Stereo Room plugin:

<ValhallaVintageVerb pluginVersion="1.5.0" presetName="2016 SRoom Like" Mix="1" PreDelay="0.093999996781349182" Decay="0.35199999809265137" Size="0.27599999308586121" Attack="0.14800000190734863" BassMult="0.49900001287460327" BassXover="0.44470110535621643" HighShelf="0" HighFreq="0.2720000147819519" EarlyDiffusion="0.6600000262260437" LateDiffusion="1" ModRate="0.2454545646905899" ModDepth="0" HighCut="0.5350000262260437" LowCut="0" ColorMode="1" ReverbMode="0.58333331346511841"/>

As an aside, once upon a time Eventide had a “2016 room” and a “2016 plate” pair of VSTs to complement the 2016 Stereo Room; why did they get rid of the other two?

I also gave it a try... but yeah, it feels pretty much impossible to replicate that sound with the current VVV algos

<ValhallaVintageVerb pluginVersion="1.5.0" presetName="Cool 2016 Room-Plate" Mix="1" PreDelay="0.19099999964237213" Decay="0.26499998569488525" Size="0.30000001192092896" Attack="0.69999998807907104" BassMult="0.31099998950958252" BassXover="0.2630000114440918" HighShelf="0.75" HighFreq="0.59399998188018799" EarlyDiffusion="1" LateDiffusion="0.69999998807907104" ModRate="0.30399999022483826" ModDepth="0.30000001192092896" HighCut="0.54799997806549072" LowCut="0.024000000208616257" ColorMode="1" ReverbMode="0.5"/>

I also know and used the 2016 Plate plugin many years ago, it was one of my favorite reverb plugins! :)

For my just finished album, I concentrated on using VVV’s “Smooth Random” algorithm with a 1980s color. For my next album, I think I will use VVV’s “Smooth Room” algorithm with a “now” color and with size set to 100%. Smooth Room has a distinct chorus effect in its modulation, which is, for the type of electronic music I make, a good thing. Unlike Smooth Random, I can get a decent tone for drums while keeping the size at 100%:

<ValhallaVintageVerb pluginVersion="1.5.0" presetName="Clap hall" Mix="1" PreDelay="0"
Decay="0.28799998760223389" Size="1" Attack="0.0080000003799796104"
BassMult="0.43200001120567322" BassXover="0.36399999260902405"
HighShelf="0.6119999885559082" HighFreq="0.46399998664855957"
EarlyDiffusion="1" LateDiffusion="1" ModRate="0.57200002670288086"
ModDepth="1" HighCut="0.77100002765655518" LowCut="0.22400000691413879"
ColorMode="1" ReverbMode="0.54166668653488159"/>

While it sounds really nice with the electronic handclap on my ER-1 — one of my favorite reverb torture tests — it also sounds really nice with snares, congos, various electronic percussion sounds (909 snares, 808 snares, 808 toms, 808 claps, etc.), and can give acoustic sampled toms a nice sense of space. With kick drums, it gives that 1980s “let’s put a digital reverb on the kick” sound which thankfully has gone out of style — I generally don’t put a reverb on a kick.

For pad, ambient, and other sounds with a slow attack, this reverb preset works really nicely:

<ValhallaVintageVerb pluginVersion="1.5.0" presetName="Smooth Room dream" Mix="1" PreDelay="0.37200000882148743"
Decay="0.72399997711181641" Size="1" Attack="1" BassMult="0.43200001120567322"
BassXover="0.36399999260902405" HighShelf="0.6119999885559082"
HighFreq="0.46399998664855957" EarlyDiffusion="0.62000000476837158"
LateDiffusion="0.41999998688697815" ModRate="0.12399999797344208"
ModDepth="0.32400000095367432" HighCut="0.77100002765655518"
LowCut="0.22400000691413879" ColorMode="1" ReverbMode="0.54166668653488159"/>

This reverb is thick enough that, when a play a slow attack, slow release chord on my four-voice CZ-1000, the reverb wash hides the sound of voice stealing when I play a new chord (as long as I give the first chord a bit of time to decay). It sounds fluttery with percussive sounds, but that can be reduced (if not always eliminated) by increasing the early and late diffusion to 100%. With some sounds, there may be frequencies which resonate or “ring” — this problem can be solved by increasing the modulation depth, but note that increased modulation can alter the tuning of sounds in the reverberant wash.

This preset puts my 30-year-old CZ-1000 and puts it in a nice cloud that makes the CZ sound rich and spacey instead of thin and plastic:

Would it be a good idea to put all these presets in one zip file?

Post

Only if someone can be arsed to update it every single time someone posts a new one... Might as well just keep it like it is. :)

Tp3,

Anyhow, I am still seeing an effected rar...using BitDefender, Eset and Avast. Interesting!

So, TP3, are you saying that these are YOUR presets? Or are these a collection of your - plus others?

God, NO :D

These are "designer presets" I collected ever since I bought VVV. prominent contributors were Simon Stockhausen, Cimbasso, Krakatau, Don Gun and Sean Costello himslef. some of them (very few) are mine.
