I'm running short of ideas this month. Fifth reply to this thread chooses the theme! (Maybe ;) ).

Post

You have to use a real guitar?
To be is to do — Socrates.
To do is to be — Jean-Paul Sartre.
Do be do be do — Frank Sinatra.

Post

I’ll give a list of ideas
- genre you’ve never done before
- Latin music (can be original or a cover)
- yet another rock or EDM challenge
- ska or reggae
- world music
- Indian modern folk music
- cartoon or children’s music
- polka synth
- schlager
- Italo disco
- R&B a la Tower Of Power or Motown without live horns or strings
- blues rock like Eric Clapton
- Chicago, Blood Sweat & Tears, and other brass rock bands WITHOUT live horns
- Saturday Night Fever (basically a disco challenge)
- Art Rock like Talking Heads
- funk
- Asian music
- 80’s Music in general
Many paid and free VSTs as well as Kontakt libraries. As well as HW synths/drum machine and acoustic instruments.

Talking Heads were great, but it would be extremely difficult to create something like a track from Remain in Light. (Blues, on the other hand, is considered to be extremely repetitive and boring among the participants in here.)
To be is to do — Socrates.
To do is to be — Jean-Paul Sartre.
Do be do be do — Frank Sinatra.

DrApostropheX chooses a famous song and everybody has to cover it in their own unique way.

In all the times I've been entering this compo we've never had a cover challenge.
can't sing, can't play, looks awful.....

Everyone does a cover version of a classic track. Or everyone chooses a song to cover, from a classic album :tu:

Maybe we are thinking of different things. Which month was it?

Thanks! But I should have been clearer: I was suggesting that we all cover/interpret the same song e.g everybody does a version of 'The Wind Cries Mary', or we all pick a song to contribute to a classic album e.g everybody takes a song from Sgt.Pepper, with the aim of creating a tribute album :tu:

That was actually an idea I had for a separate thread, a while back. I was thinking of recording a cover version of 'The Working Hour' (Tears For Fears), and thought it would be a fun idea to see if anyone else wanted to chip-in to help recreate 'Songs From The Big Chair'.

I obviously never got around to it :scared:

Fwiw, I'm not sure the album would be practical, but it would be interesting to hear everyone's take on the same track (It needn't be a song).

Of course, getting everybody to agree would be the first challenge.

Maybe I'll start a classic songs re-creation thread :tu:

True!

What does that mean?
To be is to do — Socrates.
To do is to be — Jean-Paul Sartre.
Do be do be do — Frank Sinatra.
